Having regulars to frequently visit this place 24/7 really help boost the rank!

Would probly be higher if it weren't down due to "database errors" every other week..

The database errors have been related to the recent full upgrade and I think (hope) we finally have them licked.

I find it hard to believe, but Tulsa's forum is more visited than OKCTalk. But like was mentioned, it is probably due to OKCTalk being down for a while.

Maybe they have less to get out and see/do, so they stay online and fuss about it more? Maybe not. It's been a spell since I wandered up the Turner.

I think the perception is that Tulsa is still a more cosmopolitan city than OKC is.....at least outside of Oklahoma.

i am just surprised that TulsaNow has more hits, because OKCTalk has LOTS of threads that are active. Go to TN and notice most of their forum has only a few daily updates. It is NOTHING as active as OKCTalk - this is why Im surprised they are listed with more hits.

But like was mentioned before, it could be due to OKCTalk being down for quite some time.

Once I found out that Alexa's numbers only come from the people that download the "Alexa toolbar" I started taking its rankings with a grain of salt.

I bet www.okctalk.com is ranked even better than Alexa shows but all the stats Alexa uses is based on the people that download their toolbar...not people that just (in general) get on websites.

How many of you actually use the Alexa toolbar?

Not sure how they are computing all this but here are hard stats from our webhost, where we run a collection tool in the background to track specifics.

Last month:

Unique visitors: 38,221
Number of visits: 101,568
Pages: 177,735
Hits: 9,678,855

All these numbers have been climbing steadily for the last 2-3 years.

Yes, but roughly 90% of last month's posts were about Zombies in crossroads, so I'm not sure if we can count them.

Pete, those are great numbers, but how does it rank?

I think one/both of the national forums uses the same host as OKCTalk, so that would at least give us prospective since we know they ranked very highly in the Alexa ranking.
