Yeah, but Kings will work when they move to Vegas, for the same reason.

And if they can pull that off, the next step should be building some actual lakes in Los Angeles.

Talking about switching names why not include the Utah Jazz and the New Orleans Hornets and/or Memphis Grizzlies?

New Orleans Jazz or Memphis Jazz.

Utah Hornets or Grizzlies.

No need because both will probably be contracted after next season anyhow.

The owners' ongoing talks about competitive balance, profitability and revenue sharing have included the notion of whether teams are operating in "the best available markets," the person said, and whether reducing the number of teams from the current 30 would help improve the product and the bottom line.

I'm all for that. Saying goodbye to the Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Bucks and Bobcats would save the league a few hundred million in needless salaries and improve the product dramatically

Other sources have mentioned Sacramento as being on the chopping block as well.

This talk of contraction is one of those smart moves in which you put the Union on the defensive (distraction) and when it's all said and done the owners and union comes out winners when contraction is taken off the table.

The Union can say they saved jobs and the owners accomplish their goals

I've worked on both ends of the bargaining table.

Well, the things is, the NBA has about 4 or 5 too many teams. There really are not enough good players to go around.
