Awesome Metro! Thanks so much.

Where is the building shown in the last two photos? And do you know what is going in there?

Great pics, Metro:

You're brave, some of the areas you passed through I wouldn't have gone through in an armored tank; thank God you didn't have to stop!

So I guess you don't go to downtown much?

Pete, that building is the one on the SW corner of 10th and Shartel. I forget what it is going to be, some sort of MRI or medical facility. I think Spartan started a thread on it awhile back. The other building is the new Bricktown Fire Station. Also notice the new boulevard esque type rd. behind the boathouses, they recently tore out all those flop houses, trees, and garbage that was back there and built parking lots. It's so clean but weird back there now. I know the renderings look nice of the boathouse row type boulevard they are building, but it seems like Lower Bricktown just got extended with a new sea of parking. Also makes those ugly power poles and lines really stick out.

There are plans to remove those utility lines completely, I believe in the very near future:

Here is what they say in their master plan: Transmission line removal - phase one (swing out from Boathouse District to 6th Street) - late March 2010 completion; Phase two - complete removal from north bank (including Chesapeake Boathouse area) - 2011

I don't mind the parking behind the boathouses as there was nothing there anyway and it will be needed as that area host more and more events.

What is going in to the building in the picture third from the bottom? It looks like Lego Blocks that they installed on the top of the first floor.

Yeah. I'm also scratching my head on this one. I drive around these areas all the time... and I even stop sometimes. Ooooohhhh.

Laramie, Laramie .... there is no "unsafe" section of downtown - even the homeless shelter stretch is relatively docile most days.

Some good pics in there metro, thanks for taking the time to update us before you leave for Moscow for good :P LOL

I second your comment about extending Lower Bricktown with more of what made Lower Bricktown famous...parking. As for 10th and Shartel, that is a new dialysis clinic. You can clearly see about a 10 feet setback from 10th and about a 20 ft setback from Shartel--clearly they are NOT enforcing the findings of the Midtown Masterplan, especially in regards to the area between Saints and Classen where defined space and setbacks was specifically identified as an enormous issue.

If you'd left your car on the bridge over the Chesapeake Boathouse, that would have been a GREAT shot (and not just interesting) had the ledge not been in the way.
