View Full Version : KOCO 5 is now Broadcasting News in HD Tydude 10-11-2010, 09:30 PM Tonight after i watch my shows i saw that Channel 5 is broadcasting they news in HD now so KFOR and KOCO 5 is the local station to broadcast news in HD now we are waiting news 9 to do it TaoMaas 10-12-2010, 10:38 AM Look for Ch. 9 to go HD within the next month or so. theparkman81 10-12-2010, 11:04 AM Look for Ch. 9 to go HD within the next month or so. Maybe channel 9 can go HD with a new logo. Matt 10-12-2010, 01:02 PM Being able to see Sky News 9 HD in actual HD, what a novel concept. It'd be nice if they started doing Dolby Digital, too. Tydude 10-12-2010, 01:56 PM I think sky 5 is in hd but I am not for sure TVVoiceGuy 10-12-2010, 02:06 PM Tonight after i watch my shows i saw that Channel 5 is broadcasting they news in HD now so KFOR and KOCO 5 is the local station to broadcast news in HD now we are waiting news 9 to do it Looks to me more like Widescreen SD than actual HD. Compare the graphics and they still don't look as sharp as KFOR's. duckman 10-12-2010, 04:12 PM Considering there has been no mention of a switch to HD on KOCO's behalf, I doubt this is truly high definition. The studio looks sharper, but field shots and graphics look grainy. Matt 10-12-2010, 05:07 PM Is it possible that they just upgraded their studio cameras to HD but are still using the old cameras for their location shoots? Tydude 10-12-2010, 05:29 PM but Sky 5 was in HD tonight they camera so it looks like alot of the cameras are in HD that they are using dismayed 10-12-2010, 08:34 PM I'm still waiting for Channel 9 to upgrade their recording equipment so I don't have to watch Craig Ferguson and other tape-delayed shows in SD. Matt 10-12-2010, 08:55 PM location shoots I think "remotes" is the word you were looking for here. ljbab728 10-12-2010, 09:49 PM The subject of this thread reminds that I often wonder how many extra hours a year Channel 4 wastes by making their on air personalities always say "News Channel 4 HD" instead of just saying Channel 4 or KFOR. That has always struck me as strange and unnecessary. Dustin 10-12-2010, 11:53 PM Really? I haven't noticed them in HD... I still have the 2 black bars on the side when they are on. Tydude 10-13-2010, 08:24 AM the local news at the station is in HD but the national coverage is not but if you have COX it should be in HD metro 10-13-2010, 09:26 AM I agree about the mentioning HD part, especially since Super HD will be common in a few years. TaoMaas 10-13-2010, 09:42 AM I'm still waiting for Channel 9 to upgrade their recording equipment so I don't have to watch Craig Ferguson and other tape-delayed shows in SD. You and me both. I have a show I'd like to deliver to them in HD, but they have no way to take it. However, my source tells me that this may be changing, too, in the near future so keep your fingers crossed. OKCisOK4me 10-25-2010, 11:23 AM I guess no one noticed that News9 broadcasted last night, for the first time, in hi def (so a lot less shorter than a month). They also changed their logo... Dustin 10-25-2010, 01:14 PM I guess no one noticed that News9 broadcasted last night, for the first time, in hi def (so a lot less shorter than a month). They also changed their logo... I noticed. I like the new logo too. Dustin 10-25-2010, 01:17 PM Also, isn't News 9 the only station in Oklahoma that redesigned their set a couple of years ago for the future HD conversion? OKCisOK4me 10-25-2010, 02:00 PM Also, isn't News 9 the only station in Oklahoma that redesigned their set a couple of years ago for the future HD conversion? No. KFOR had a big time change too, but they did theirs closer to when they converted to HD.. drum4no1 10-25-2010, 06:47 PM News 9 did get a new set that was HD 16x9 friendly years ago. The changes to the KFOR set were minimal mainly to make it 16X9 safe and to add some depth.. Tydude 10-25-2010, 08:39 PM watch News9 during they broadcast and the picture looks amazing and it took them like 6 years to do it they got they new set in 2006 i think.KOCO and KOKH is the only news station is not broadcasting they news in HD.KOCO 5 is broadcasting they news in Windscreen SD not HD yet Dustin 10-26-2010, 04:56 AM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPXMIGPDIgI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n2_-0PlRKQ |
