Maybe channel 9 can go HD with a new logo.

Being able to see Sky News 9 HD in actual HD, what a novel concept.

It'd be nice if they started doing Dolby Digital, too.

Looks to me more like Widescreen SD than actual HD. Compare the graphics and they still don't look as sharp as KFOR's.

Considering there has been no mention of a switch to HD on KOCO's behalf, I doubt this is truly high definition. The studio looks sharper, but field shots and graphics look grainy.

Is it possible that they just upgraded their studio cameras to HD but are still using the old cameras for their location shoots?

I'm still waiting for Channel 9 to upgrade their recording equipment so I don't have to watch Craig Ferguson and other tape-delayed shows in SD.

location shoots

I think "remotes" is the word you were looking for here.

The subject of this thread reminds that I often wonder how many extra hours a year Channel 4 wastes by making their on air personalities always say "News Channel 4 HD" instead of just saying Channel 4 or KFOR. That has always struck me as strange and unnecessary.

Really? I haven't noticed them in HD... I still have the 2 black bars on the side when they are on.

the local news at the station is in HD but the national coverage is not but if you have COX it should be in HD

I agree about the mentioning HD part, especially since Super HD will be common in a few years.

You and me both. I have a show I'd like to deliver to them in HD, but they have no way to take it. However, my source tells me that this may be changing, too, in the near future so keep your fingers crossed.

I guess no one noticed that News9 broadcasted last night, for the first time, in hi def (so a lot less shorter than a month). They also changed their logo...

Also, isn't News 9 the only station in Oklahoma that redesigned their set a couple of years ago for the future HD conversion?

News 9 did get a new set that was HD 16x9 friendly years ago. The changes to the KFOR set were minimal mainly to make it 16X9 safe and to add some depth..
