The Plaza District really makes me want to visit this area. They could use a map on their site, but very very good.


A few that I didn't find, Boathouse District, Deep Deuce, Film Row, Uptown 23rd Street, (I am really surprised 23rd doesn't have it's own website, none that I could find.)

it doesn't really surprise me that the plaza district has the best website. doesn't the plaza district association hire somebody to maintain the website, market, advertise, etc.? I think it's a paid position...

I don't think the asian district has an equivalent to that...

I don't know why, but I've never like the name, "Adventure District."

The Plaza district web site really needs a map showing where it is. The only way to find it is to get an address from one of the business, then go to another website to map it. Even then, you don't know the boundaries of the actual district.

I really like the map found on the Western Avenue website, very easy to read.

I think Midtown is really missing out by not having a good website. Especially since this area has housing, retail, businesses, restaurants, and a farmers market. Unless someone is really familiar with this area you don't know where to look.

Also has anyone found a website for Uptown or 23rd street area. With the Tower theater coming around, Cheevers, Big Truck Tacos, Prohibition Room, 23rd st tattoos, Cuppies and Joes, and many many more. I think it would be beneficial for marketing purposes especially trying to land business or companies to a certain area.

What are we supposed to be calling the area immediately north of Deep Deuce, west of I-235, east of the BNSF tracks and south of NE 10th (or so) on the north these days? Is "Flatiron" stale-dated?

Thanks for the PDF link, okclee ... that was interesting to see ... but Downtown OKC defining Automobile Alley for that whole area (not only proximate to Broadway but also extending east to I-235 represents a history revisionist's point of view in the extreme since EVERYONE knows that Automobile Alley relates to retail auto dealers, etc., along and near Broadway. Unless I am badly mistaken, there was not one such an enterprise east of the BNSF tracks, not historically, not today, not ever.

I am looking for a fair and realistic "label" (if there is one) to properly describe that area in the "Oklahoma Rising -- Revisited" (Oklahoma City Rising, actually) article I'm working on, but Automobile Alley certainly will not be what I'll call it. Maybe I'll just call it, NODD (North of Deep Deuce) for want of a better title, akin to what some are calling SOSA, the area south of Saint Anthony's.

I'm open to suggestions for what to call that area. Anyone got a better label?

Kristen with the Plaza District here. Sorry about the map on the website. Our contact page has a map design with the businesses highlighted, and we have a link to a google map underneath, but I will make a point to make a better map more apparent.

My position is paid, I am one staff person working with all the stakeholders and volunteers. We are an Oklahoma Main Street program partially funded through the City of OKC as well as our own fundraising efforts. In fact, we just released our membership program so that we may start efforts to become self-sufficient.

I did point out that I think the plaza district has a very good website and is my favorite out of the group posted above. Adding a map of the district and the businesses in this area will only add to your already great work. The pdf map that the Western Ave district has looks very good and is easy to read, allowing one to enlarge for viewing. Other than that you have really nailed it, excellent work. Keep us updated with any new additions to the Plaza District. There has been rumors of a few new restaurants coming soon, any truth to this?

Yes, thanks so much for the compliments. I am lucky to have so many creatives in the district who lend a hand in design. As far as restaurants, unfortunately for now those are only rumors. We are trying to recruit restaurants (for lease 1715 nw 16th, the building w/ the mural..and for sale the Friendly laundromat), but nothing finalized as of now. There's been some recent interest, so we hope to have some positive news on the horizon.

Just curious, but what accounts for the curve boundary between Deep Deuce and Bricktown. Zoomed in on the map but doesn't show a street there. A rail track maybe?

Yes, some abandoned (right term? unused, maybe) rail track.

It looks like part of the Arts District will become a new district called West Village District.

It's basically just a renaming of Film Row with a slight expansion of the boundries.

All the major districts have IG and Twitter accounts which get a ton of traffic especially the Paseo and the plaza
