I don't know who is doing the 3D work but large portions of the city are now available to see in 3D - even homes. There are even 3D trees in the National Memorial. Cool stuff. Since I used Google Earth to make my future fixed-guideway maps I can even ride my trolley down Broadway and see the building tower over me.

I also recommend wikimapia.org (http://www.wikimapia.org) as a good project for people on this board who have an interest in the city.

Also... if you zoom in close enough on Google Maps you have the option to view overhead or 45 degree angle now.
