Hey guys, in the sattelite images I provided in the other post, I selected the wrong image for the porposed location of the Dell facility. The Dell Facility will be just west of I-44 and north of SW 15th St. It's just south of Mathis Brother's and Dealer's Auto Auction.

Unfortunately, it will be across the street from those apartments owned by DHS.....can't remember what they're called. You know, the one's with Section 8 people in them.....they're full of crime and the residents have only burned them down a zillion times. I'm not so sure this is the prime location for the call center. I think land just east of the Downtown airpark between the airpark and Wiley Post Park, would be a better location. It's at SW 29th and Western, just east of Western Ave. It's also an area of higher water level between the May Avenue and Western Avenue Dams.

Here's the proposed location:

In this photo, the river (without water in this pic) is in the upper left corner, I-44 is vertical on the right, and SW 15th St. is horizontal on the bottom.

Here's a wider view showing the surrounding area:

Here's the location I think would be better (in the photo the land is to the right of the airstrip and just below (south) the river:

The apartment complex that I was referring to that would be across SW 15th St. from the Dell site, is actually a complex owned by the Oklahoma City Housing Authority......it offers public housing to the not so fortunate. Unfortunately, the complex is filled with drug dealers, crime, and anything else you'd expect to find in such a development.

Apparently, the complex has a new name. It's now known as Oak Grove. I still can't remember what the old name was.

Here's a link to the site: http://www.ochanet.org/publichousing_info/family/oakgrove/oak_grove.htm

I don't remember exactly the old name, but I do know that the area that it is in is known as Kerr Village.......another area of high gang and drug activity. The new Dell site will be a great location, especially being off I-44, however, I hope that they realize what type of area they are about to occupy. This is another area that I wouldn't be out by myself day or night. If I were to have a flat going through that area, I would drive on it for a couple of miles just so that I would not have to stop.

Thanks Keith! Kerr Village was the name I was thinking of. The Dell site is just north of Kerr Village, right across SW 15th. IMO, this is one of the worst locations the city could've chosen for Dell. It would be nice if the city could level all of Kerr Village!!! Oh well...maybe Dell will improve the area.

What the city should consider doing is moving it's low income, crime-filled housing authority project to another part of town, and converting those Kerr Village apartments into nice high tech apartments for Dell employees.
