Last August there was a blurb in the Journal Record about Alamo Draft House coming to Norman and Tulsa. Not heard a word since. It's a popular theater chain based in Austin. Watch a movie, eat and have a beer. Sounds good to me. I know they had a change over in the franchise dept at corp. Anyone?

I have no idea, but I read the same thing you did. Maybe they are planning a summer opening? I have no clue.

Seems like an Austin type of thing to do... and do we really want this? I have no doubt a theatre chain like this would utterly fail in the high class city of Tulsa- that is if it is not off of 71st Street. Where they put the OKC location would be less tricky, b/c we love to pretend to be blue collar here in OKC, just like in Austin.

Question: Is this like a playhouse (like the Stage Center, Civic Center) or is it your typical Movie Plex (Tinseltown, Harkins)?

I emailed them about a month ago and they never responded.

I would rather see someone local do the same thing. Alamo is too Texas. Texas can stay south of the Red River.

Acutally our family looked into it. There is a strange law on the books here that you have to get around first. May be part of their problem for not being here yet. Basically you can't serve alchol and show porn movies at the same time. Oklahoma version of porn is if you see a boob. That limits the theatre to only show PG movies. Don't quote me on that but I think thats what we ran into. We really wanted that old building in Paseo that used to be Sussy Itailian. I need to start another thread on that place. Major history in that building. Used to be the "whites only" swim club when it was first built. Sussy's turned the deep end of the pool to their freezer section. I need more facts about that.
