Looking for suggestions for local dive bars in the metro. Have a group of people that get together once a month and hit up a different bar each month. In the past we have hit up The Alley Club, Sooner Corral, Ednas, Red Rooster, JR's, etc.

Just looking for some suggestions on favorite local hangouts.

Thanks in advance!

Don't forget the legendary Red Dog Saloon. If you have your bodyguard with you, that is. LOL

Those listed were some of the best ones, for sure! You'll be happy with those.

Actually I think I saw her on Robinson, and she looked open, so to speak.

Don't forget to tip your waitress.

The Mill off of Portland is also a decent little dive bar. No live music but the staff is quick and they have free shuffleboard.

Drunken Fry...but you have to tolerate smoke (I don't smoke but I kind of like the smell in a bar...)

I love the Fry. LOVE it. But I don't know that a completely new, renovated bar owned by the Deep Fork Group constitutes a true "Dive".

Not that it matters. Go forth and have fun!

Spent many night at the Sidecar before it became TDF. Good times and great memories! I have been to the drunken fry a few times. Not bad. Service could be improved, but overall a fun place to be.

What was your take on Sooner Corral? I like to check out places that would fall under the heading of "honky tonk". In my younger days, I despised such places. But those are the type places my folks frequented when I was small. In those days, they quite ofter took me along and no one cared. Now, in deference to my parents, I'm kinda entertained by those type establishments.

Sooner -

It has been awhile since we visited the Sooner Corral. It is a country bar. Seems there was a small cover charge and live band(s). There was also a large dance floor. Service was very good. The waitress was funny and checked on us often. I would recommend it.
