I figured someone would say something like this eventually; thanks for posting it a week ago.

cedbled, I'm not trying to rain on your parade. It's nice of you to bring it up, actually. I really hadn't checked to see if it had been mentioned and I guess I was just occupied with a few other things last week besides posting that article here. LOL
I don't always run here to post every piece of knowledge that I have.

Read the press release carefully. This isn't a done deal.

Sounds pretty 'done deal' to me.

I think they were meaning that the Council hasn't signed off on it yet. Many thought the previous Grand Prix plan was a "done deal" and they just had to go through the formalities. Granted, that was a different economic times and if the same deal were to be presented today, it probably wouldn't have the same level of resistance. That said, I do think they are looking at what happened last time and the level of public subsidy will hopefully be much less than the $7M what was being asked for by the previous group.

After it was defeated it came up in Council that there was a state law that prevented Cities from erecting seating on public streets along with there was also some issue with charging people thru a 3rd party or something. I know that legislation was passed this year that fixed the charging part but they didn't mention if the seating issue had been fixed. Does anyone know?
