If anyone is interested in voting on this year's survey, I'm going to make it easy for you to vote on line.

When you do vote, I hope you'll consider putting me, Stan Silliman, as OKC's Favorite Local Author at position # 99

If you've never read any of my six books, or seen any of my 600 humor columns or if you're unfamiliar with my writing, say so and I'll put up some samples.

When you vote on line, it's a one time only per computer deal, no matter how many email addresses you may have. You don't have to live in Oklahoma City to vote. Here's the link to the survey:

What aare your books?

Thank you for voting, friend. My books are cartoon humor and sports humor. I started off as a cartoon gag writer in 1984 and published my first book in 1995. I'm not going to list every book but I will post a few excerpts below. If you like them or any of the OKC Talk folks like them, I'd hope you'd include me on the Gazette's survey.

The below book won the Oklahoma Writer's Federation "Best Book of Poetry" in 2002. It's called "The News in Double Dactyls". See a few cartoons. Clickon the cartoons to enlarge them: Double Dactyls (http://comedyempirepress.com/DoubleDactyls.html)

Our classic cartoon-humor book "It's a Silli-Zyk World is full of Silly and Sick cartoons. Check it out here: Silli-Zyk (http://comedyempirepress.com/Silli-zykFrntCov.html)

My last two books have dealt with sports humor. They are titled: "Silliman on Sports and Sports Fans are Crazy. You can see a few sample chapters below: Married on Everest (http://www.sillimanonsports.com/MarriedonEverest.html)

Van Gundys (http://www.sillimanonsports.com/TheVanGundys.html)

Is Tony Roma's still in business?

I'm taking my vote very seriously, and I need some help. I know these awards mean a lot to the restaurants so I want local joints that need a boost to get support from Gazette readers.

Best Seafood? Is there anyone beyond Pearl's? (Excluding Joe's Crab Shack, etc)
Best healthy menu--all that comes to mind is 105 Degrees and I guess Kaiser's touts their healthy menu a lot which is disgusting, awful food.
Best restaurant that's open late--OKC kinda sucks here. Beverly's is good, but who else?
Best dessert menu--La Baguette? I never order dessert at other places.
Best local wine or beer--which business is more in need of support, Put a Cork in It, or Wine Merchants in A-Alley?
Best Patio--after several months in Canada and getting used to cold I avoid patios in OKC like the plague.
Best Sunday Brunch--waking up before 3 pm on a Sunday is a rare occurrence for me that only happens when I feel mortally obligated to drag myself to mass, nevermind Sunday brunch. Any suggestions?

You're taking your vote seriously, but you are seeking suggestions on how to base a 'Best of' vote on which places may need more of a boost than their competition?

Well I just don't see the point in opening the Gazette's Best of OKC and seeing McNellie's or Hideaway ranked high in every category and saying, "You know what, I think I'll try McNellie's..for the 5,000th time..and wait 45 minutes for a table."

Hastings is better than Full Circle? Do they not carry your books or something?

I was on my laptop in Hastings when I was filling out my ballot. Paranoid, as always, I kept thinking the management was peeking over my shoulder.

Full Circle is a great bookstore, absolutely special. However, they don't carry as many of my books as Hastings. On top of that, I should be more loyal to Border's. Both stores spent $ 85,000 each with when me when they constructed their stores years ago.

Barnes & Noble is cool, too. Can't really go bad at any of them.

You know a good store for used books, CRAZY LADIES in Norman. Mom and daughter store and they're very helpful AND you can buy Silliman there.

By the way, if you're looking for Father's Day gifts, a Sports Fans are Crazy book wouldn't be bad. Call your book store, say you want one.

Apparently they aren't allowed to bring Cardboard Jim Traber inside with them and I think that's the dealbreaker :(
