Seriously, everyone check out that whole thread at Skyscrapercity.

Note the size of the coin and markers in the background. These models are just millimeters in size.

I checked them out this morning. That is really cool stuff and he has a lot of downtown done. I loved his model of the UMB building.

Steve, you need to get on the horn and see if this guy will bring this to display in OKC, maybe next to the IM Pei model.

Well the most fascinating thing to me, as I commented on the thread, was that this guy lives in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He just likes American cities, and happened to pick OKC. How cool is that?

Yeah I've been PM'ing this guy back and forth for a while now and he really likes OKC,and American cities in general!I commented to him What Sandridge's plans were, after he had already made The Sandridge tower and adjacent buildings,Funny he lives THOUSANDS of miles away and Disagrees with there plans! Also He said he will try to make a scale model of The new Devon tower!

Steve

He also say's He might do a scale replica of Tulsa, in The future!I hope he does make The new Devon tower,it would probably be pretty hard considering The Leadership Square model he did had close to 100 pieces!

Absolutely amazing. Steve, the Oklahoman needs to send you on a trip to St. Petersburg to get the whole story! You will go, right?

Steve
05-28-2010, 03:43 PM
Doug, maybe you're not familiar with the financial situation in the newspaper industry right now, including The Oklahoman. At this point I can't get money to travel to Edmond.

Wonder if OKCTalk could do a fundraiser?

Round trip airfare for about $1,200. Could do it total for about $2,000. 200 members give 10 bucks. I know I'd chip in at least $20.

^^That would be cool, and also have Steve write an article about him, and designate a site to donate would be awesome too! If this happens I can donate 10$!

I'll chip in $100 to the fund to send Steve to St. Petersburg to get a story that his employer should be drooling over. Oh, I forgot. David Thompson is the publisher.

Easy come, easy go.

So hit up the Thunder owners to have this guy come in and make replicas of the Ford arena and their new practice facility, and then interview him when he's here.

Or, maybe we can all hope he writes you and lets you know the guy likes Skype.

Hi everyone! I am Russian Sam.
I'm the author of models that you are discussing. Never would have thought that my models will cause a resonance in the forum. I think that if someone of you will join me (into S.-Petersburg) this is not a good idea. The main reason - I have poor spoken English! We will find it difficult to communicate.

Hope so. The chap's work is interesting.

Multiple committee meetings, Mayor Mick screaming on the phone, development deal meltdown, state legislature doing something. And so on.

Mayor Mick is too genuinely nice to scream. He just voices displeasure.

'YA'LL' is okie for the plural 'YOU'. We do weird things like use slang to make phrases longer instead of shorter. That and use 'office' as a verb...

Here's another fun useless fact: Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper, and not coffee and orange juice, are the most popular drinks for breakfast in Oklahoma.

I would hate to have to learn English if it were not my native tongue (oops, I mean native language) since half of it is idioms. But I do think it is the greatest language in the world because it sponges (absorbs) from all the others to get the good parts. Good luck, Sam, you have a hard row to hoe there... opps, I mean it is not going to be easy.

Only in the Oklahoma, or in all states? We don't teach this, even in the institutes.

Pretty much through most of the southern half of the country.

Only in the Oklahoma, or in all states?

'YA'LL' is more or less regional, mainly in the southern U.S. You may hear it occasionally in other parts of the country, but it's roots are in the south. I think it's actually taught in grammar school in Texas (kidding).

I am not sure about 'office' as a verb, but I have only heard it in Oklahoma.

Y'all = you all (southern area of US)
You Guys = You guys (mid west and northern US)
