Federal Judge Robert Henry to be president of Oklahoma City University

Robert Henry, chief judge of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, was selected today to be president of Oklahoma City University.

Robert Henry, selected today to be president of Oklahoma City University, is seen today in this photo by Bryan Terry.

Henry was selected out of 53 people who were considered for the job, university spokeswoman Leslie Berger said. Henry will take his new position on July 1.

The return to OCU will be a homecoming for Henry, who served as dean of the OCU law school from 1991 to 1994.

Henry left the law school to join the appellate court in 1994, after being nominated to the position by former President Bill Clinton. He became chief judge in 2008.

Wow, what a catch for OCU. I know, I know, I'm supposed to keep such thoughts to myself. But I can't help but admire the man.

Didn't realize Tom McDaniel was stepping down?

I was cracking up when I watched the short with him on News9's website yesterday.. especially how said, "From a legal standpoint, it would have been a deeeealbreaker."

So he is withdrawing as Chief?

Dean Henry (he was dean when I was there) is a very interesting, well read man. He has a very broad range of interests.

My daughter is a senior at OCU. She worked for a few semesters for Tom McDaniel's wife. At first my daughter was a music major and during one of the concerts, Mr. McDaniel's and his wife went out of their way to introduce themselves to me. I was really impressed with them. My daughter was upset when he announced his retirement. She loves OCU and them. Has gotten a excellent education.
