As Christmas gets closer the B C Clark Jingle is EVERYWHERE.....Good advertisement though. Now, they are playing jingle ads (BC Clark) from the past. and, I just started thinking about some of the wild and exciting ads...Linda Soundtrak (when she came on the eggs would crack in the refrigerator)....Bud and Don Mathis (Fire-Blazing prices). Dollar's best buy at TG&Y....Do you remember any of the old ones????

A few come to mind:

Broadway Ford in Edmond: "Don't you BUY no ugly truck!"

The Paul Meade Insurance jingle.

"That's incredible!" "No, that's Southwest Ford!"

Tom Park for Lynn Hickey Dodge.

Alan Merril Chevrolet, Route 66 in Yukon

Gene Williams Chevrolet, on the Old Prarie Field

Time to make the donuts....

Where's the beef?

Dippity Doo.

2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun.

I like to eat at Schlotsky's when I can find the time, if I am hungry, and I always am. I guess the thing I like about it's all that cheese and spicy meat yeah that's it...no it's not - I like the bread. That fresh made bread....

I always liked the commercial where Michael Jordan vs. Larry Bird for McDonald's. Off the parking garage, over the highway, thru the window...

Hey Mable! Bring me another Black Label....

Two! Two! Two mints in one.

Mama mia, that was a spicy meatball........

Timex! Takes a licking but keeps on ticking....

If cows could they would give Milnot.....

I want my Maypo!

Let's let Mikey try it. He hates everything......

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

In the early '60s, when I was in my late single digits, I was allowed to stay up until 10:15 on Wednesday nights. That's the night that WKY news was sponsored by Jax Beer, and the commercials were cartoons. The only one I remember is a frog tells a princess that he'll turn into a handsome prince if she gives him a Jax. She gives him a can, which he drinks and smacks his lips, "Ahhh!"
She says, "You're no prince! You're just a stupid frog!"
The frog replies, "I'm not so stupid. I got my Jax Beer didn't I?" Then he looks at the camera and pops his eyebrows up and down a couple of times. That one cracked my Grandma up bigtime.

As far as tobacco products:

"Take a puff. It's springtime!" (Salem)

"I'd rather fight than switch!" (Taryton)

"A silly little millimeter longer!" (Benson & Hedges 101s)

"Should a gentleman offer a lady a Tiparillo?"

"Show us your Larks!" (Lark)

Someone mentioned Alan Merrell Chevrolet, but they left out his opening line, "Hello folks! Torture time again!"

speaking of the classic holiday b.c. clark's tv jingle, i find it humorous..and maybe even exercising a bit of profiling as everytime the part of the song that says "..since 1892" comes on it seems to always feature an elderly couple singing those lyrics.

I wish I owned Chukc E Cheese, then I could rake in the dough, AND make crappy pizza.

I am 46, and have lived in this area all my life. I still live southside between
ross and villa, on SW 56th st., right in back of the post office.

As I graduated from Grant in 1981, most of what I remember is probably later than you old farts :053:.

Do you remember across from the Pizza Planet where Liquor store is now,
was a grocery store, I'm thinking it was a Jims or Kens IGA.

I also remember when the Arbys at 59th and Penn was a Jack in the Box restraunt.

Kerns drive in on 44th and Agnew and when Wilkersons was next to Penn 44.

Man I was happy when Los Tacos move over on 44th and May, we ate there
a lot when they were on 44th and Blackwelder, when we were on lunch at Grant, also at Billies burger place on 59th and May

Okay, you might be legit. Still, you're going to have to undergo an
extensive background check, i.e. make sure you own a hand gun, flunked
math and put cruising above and beyond grades or class attendance.

We'll see.

Here is a major deterrent. You called us "old farts". That's a major no-no.
True, we're old, except Soonergirl26, but, and it's a BIG but, you haven't
received nor earned the privilege of calling us farts.

You failed to capitalize Ross and Villa. Not that we ever passed English,
but we learned everything there is to know about the capitalization of
proper nouns. Even though we have no idea what a proper noun is.

Being 46 might be too young to post on the Southside Memories or attend
one of our remarkable monthly meetings. We'll vote on it next month.

Living on S.W. 56th and between Ross and Villa is major-deluxe southside
territory. You better be ready to present credentials for making such a
remark.

Lastly, we remember everything! That includes every and any event that
ever took place south of "The River".

Your approval is pending. Don't get cocky.

Southside Girl and Rowdy55 will argue that they are not old.

Pizza Planet was the only place that served shrimp and onion pizza. After their demise I had to make them at home. But recently a place in Norman has reintroduced shrimp and onion pizza.

There is still a Los Tacos at 89th and Penn. Shopping center on the southeast corner.

I was younger when my family went to Pizza Planet, I would not have thought

I remember a bunch of stuff from when I was real young, do you remember
McDonalds being on 44th west of Penn in a building that looked like a

Also between the Animal Hospital and the National Guard Armory, still

There was never a McDonald's on SW 44. It was and still is on SW 60 and Pennsylvania. It was one of the first in Oklahoma City. I think it opened in 1965. Or within a year or two of then.

Another person has told me they do not remember this one either, but I remember it being there, and then closing, and moving up on 60th and Penn,
where it was 'till they tore it down to make the new McDonalds a couple of
months ago. I'm not sure when the one on 60th was built, but I have a cup
from there that was a commemorative of that store being the first
McDonalds Drive thru in the nation, in 1975, there are histories of the
company with this listed, but a McDonalds in Arizona also claims this
distinction as well.

If that was not the McDonalds, I wish I could remember what it is, the building was built like a What-A-Burger, but the A-frame came almost all the way to the ground, and the metal was painted in alternating colors like blue and red an yellow.
