I know there used to be an old thread on this along with a video, but I've done about a half dozen or more searches on this site and can't find it. There is a new updated video of Turbonomic Tower.

Makes me wonder a bit about what volume level that many turbines might generate, but it's fer danged sure interesting.

Nice knock-off Dubai tower, Rand.

When will this be built and where?

Thunder this is just a concept with no specific plans to build (or even a developer to build it).

The renderings seem to show it just south of Stage Center, on the northwest corner of Hudson & Reno. But I'm sure no one that owns the property is involved -- they just probably thought it would be a great spot to feature the tower.

Has any analysis been done on the time it would take to offset the embodied energy required of such a machine?

I was a big fan of this Chad Oppenheim's design in Miami:

http://www.libertyparkusafd.org/lp/BuildingGreenUSA/curriculum/Eleven%20Green%20Skyscrapers_files/cormiami21.jpg

But after looking into a little more, I found out that it is much more efficient to produce energy off site. In fact, many buildings that attempt to incorporate wind energy production are net losers in efficiency (i.e. the embodied energy in the onsite generation facilities is greater than the net energy produced).

Also, anyone know if there are windows?

It might do well next to a highway. I am sure the sound of the rotors would make the highway noise a non-issue.

I would not want that built in Oklahoma City or anywhere near downtown at least. I for one think it's hideous. Brilliant idea I suppose, but doesn't quite meet my expectations in the aesthetics department.

Architect student, please feel free to come up with a better rendering, should it be the case, we'll support it.

Soooo last year:

DYNAMIC ARCHITECTURE | ROTATING TOWER (http://www.dynamicarchitecture.net/home.html)

(Here is your better rendering)

Sure that tower is rotating ... but it's action doesn't have a real purpose. Turbonomic Tower's rotation provides energy.

Pretty cool. Would be iconic for sure.

Its been overcome with so called micro turbines....
And yes there's windows...
