The cam is down! HELP!!!

We need to find someone who works either higher in the Oklahoma Tower or in the Chase/Cotter Tower so that we can have a better POV on the construction. From the current location, we will soon have no point of reference once the cam is tilted upward...

I was using the second thread "Devon Tower Construction Cam" and there was always a "still" shot of the building, although it was updated daily. It was on Page 1 of that thread. I noticed that it is now gone. How do I get access to the regular cam that you guys are all seeing? Thanks!

^^^That is the cam that everyone is referring to. For those that are subscribed to the Daily Jokelahoman (sorry Steve), I mean Oklahoman you can view a live web cam that's placed on top of the Oklahoma Tower. The link is just down on that page 1 and if you check a few posts back, Pete said that they were working on it (he's not in state so that means that he's probably trying to get in communication with the person who normally tends to the still cam to see what's up with it).

Ok...thanks. I don't subscribe...so I guess the above link won't work for me. I was speaking of the "Devon Tower Construction Cam", which is right under this thread. I would always just go to Page 1 and it was the very first thing I would be. I didn't know if the link that everyone is saying is broken was the same one that I usually look at. Thanks!

Hi Pete thanks for all you do to keep the cam up and this site in general! Just a quick question, Is there any word on how long it might be before the cam comes back up? I am needing my daily fix!!! Again thanks for your efforts on this.

I know it doesn't help much without seeing what is going on but just a little written update from the live cam. The forms have been placed on the first 1/3 and that core has popped up. The crystal bridge will soon be out of view. The pumper on top is pumping and there are several concrete trucks lined up. I am hoping the OKCtalk cam is being moved instead of just down but who knows. The picture is much better even though it's not live.

Thanks clz46 a description is far better than the alternative which is nothing!!! So the Forms that they placed were the ones that will support the 13th floor? If so that is awesome! Have they raised the Tower #2 yet? I figured you would have mentioned that if they had, so I assume that they have yet to complete that. So is the live view better now that the tower is getting taller? I remember that it was pretty grainy and distant when they were first setting it up before the blacked it out to all non-subscribing viewers.

clz46
09-21-2010, 11:55 PM
No, they have not raised the #2 tower crane yet. The live cam's resolution is not very good so it is hard to tell much more than obvious changes. I did happened to see a panning in and the camera actually moving all around the site at 2:45 pm for about 5 minutes. I have not seen that before so I don't know if that happens every day or if there is a schedule? Didn't Steve say something about that once? The windows from the Colcord side appear to be from what will be the ground floor up to ? hard to tell. You could see many people working all over the site. Since the camera moved fairly quickly, it was hard to tell on what exactly. The Skyline camera has a clearer setting but it is too small to see much while the larger picture resolution is as I described earlier. Also, all the columns seem to be in place for the other 3rd's but no forms... that I can see.

It appears in looking at the OKC Skyline cam tonight that about a third of the flooring for the 13th floor is in place. The crane on the west side of the tower has not been raised as yet.

As I've mentioned before, the subscriber wall on the live cam involves considerations outside of any circulation efforts by The Oklahoman. That said, in the absence of any images here at OKC Talk, I'd be glad to do snapshots and post them at OKC Central for all to see (I'll look the other way if someone posts them here as well)

Had an interesting conversation today that shed light on some details that I had only heard as rumor before. The source was very credible as they are doing work on the site. Floors 49 and 50 will indeed be some type of a private restaurant. Devon apparently had been in conversation with the Petroleum Club but it sounded like things went south and it now will most likely be a private Devon restaurant with banquet rooms, etc. Similar to the Petroleum Club now. The auditorium will have a 27 foot screen on the inside and a 50 foot screen on the outside. All the office floors in the tower will have "quiet" rooms complete with plush lounge chairs and dimming lights. Security will be insane. Each office on the perimeter of the office floors will have badge access. Buttloads of cameras of course. All the floors will have a raised floor. I think that was about all the information I was able to pull out of them. ;)

I think I am just now getting a better perspective on how truly massive this tower will be in our downtown, and I drive by it daily.

Wholeheartedly agree with you. When you think of the small space it takes up (that which used to be the parking lot) it seems really small, but when you get that mass rising up into the sky, it really shows how huge it is. From certain high point areas that I like to view it from northwest of downtown, I'd say that it looks to be wider than the Chase/Cotter Tower!

This place is going to transform our skyline in such a way that alot of us who were born and raised here from my generation (I was born in 85) can't understand unless they are avid travelers (unlike myself) who have witnessed such transformations in other cities! My excitement is unbearable for I have never experienced such a change in my lifetime other than the mental gratification of suburban sprawl! (I was raided in Luther so seeing a Walgreen's pop up among newly built subdivisions was amazing to me!)

just a small update from the Skyline cam. All three of the cores are up it appears with 2/3's of the forms done. Still the tower crane has not lifted. The camera is covered with rain so nothing can be seen now but the bleary lit up building. The building is really beautiful at night. Kinda surreal with it all white against the single lights from cars, street lights, stop lights changing colors etc. in the background. The top 3 completed floors are dark but the tower plus the building between the tower and parking garage (white van) are all ablaze.

Just to clear this up hopefully once and for all...unless the contractors don't know what the floors levels are, as indicated in the attached photo provided by Doug Loudenback (Thankyou very much by the way!) if you click on it and then click again to get the largest view you can see the floor numbers on the Left side of the Construction elevator. The First floor is 1 then the little mezzanine floor that you see is actually the second floor of the podium building and is designated as the second floor. Then the first numbered floor indicated in the photo is Floor #3 and then is goes up in numeric order as we would expect it to. So they are finishing the forms for floor #13, and are adding glass to the 5th floor currently. If I understood you correctly.

I believe that the level where the windows have started is the 3rd level. Doesn't it match with the 3rd floor on the east podium? The second floor of the tower might just be a BSc floor for the high ceiling in the ground level. All the other levels up to the sixth floor look to match with podium floors.

Saw that the Main Place Tower in Houston (also by Pickard Chilton), has similar/same glazing system as Devon Tower with the transluscent vertical fins on one side of the building. The remainder of the building has horizontal transluscent glass elements......will be interesting to see if this building has the same lighting proposed for Devon, as Main Place is currently nearing completion.

[QUOTE=redrunner;363631]The vertical fins do look quite familiar but the night time rendering of Main Places does not indicate that the vertical fins are lit up.

Correct, the main place website calls the vertical and horizontal elements glass sunshades.....glass can have some shading properties with less transparency and more reflectivity. Is the glass used for sunshading for aesthetics as well, perhaps lighting?
