Was just down in the Myriad Gardens and there were a couple of teenagers chanting "All hail the giant glass sky pen1$!"

That is all. Good night.

I'm totally doing that next time I swing through OKC.

In light of their relative positioning, that seems a bit smug for a couple of dingleberries. Funny, but still a bit smug.

I haven't been over that way in a while. Where do you park and how do you enter the building? It was all still under construction last time I was around.

Thanks so much for the great pics KayneMo. I especially like the skyline pic. Also, good grief when are they going to finish the windows?

You would have to enter through the parking garage or off the circle drive on Park Ave behind the library. You would be best to park west of Walker during the week, almost in Film Row. There are plenty of spots and it is not a bad walk.

As for the food, I'll echo metro's sentiments. A bit on the high side, but otherwise good, quality food and a lot of choices to pick from.

Last night driving home I could have sworn seeing flashing lights (like twinkling Christmas lights) up and down the lower 1/3 of the indentions....might have been an illusion. But no where else on the tower seemed to have this....

Anyone else see this or am I going to fail my next random?
You weren't imagining it; I saw the same thing. Took me a while to figure it out. They were alarm strobe lights in the offices and corridors. They must have either been testing the fire alarms or one had been set off somehow.

Noticed on my way home from work, that they finally started adding the remaining windows where the crane was attached, on the SW side at least...

It is probably one of the last steps to reduce the chance of getting scratches/dents.

A great human interest story by Steve that puts the significance of this building a little more in perspective.

Ate at Nebu today. It was yummy. Here's is a picture of the future "moat" from inside the rotunda (not sure if anybody has posted one of these).

1202

BTW, there was A LOT of foot traffic going on from RS Kerr all the way down to Devon so I can see this foot traffic flowing through the rotunda once the south doors are open.

Lastly, leaving the site, I noticed the food tents going up behind Stage Center for the Arts Festival. I really wish they'd have the rotunda open from the south by then, but it's looking increasingly unlikely...

Thanks shawn -- always appreciate your contributions.

Yeah, they only have two weeks before the Arts Festival and while I'm sure that want that entrance and their park open, I'm not sure Devon is going to be able to get it done in time.

Some have mentioned the LED test square on the crown, and I can now confirm that it does in fact exist on the north side. Pic below is from about ten minutes ago.

I saw that this morning about 655am and it was changing colors. Very cool! I wanted to pull over and video it with the phone but alas I had to get to work.

I saw that one last night. But, there was a bigger square in the triangular portion a few nights ago too.

Does anyone know when they will finally turn on the blue accent lighting? It looks like the entire exterior on the main skyscraper is completed. They have red light bulbs at the top already turned on, so I'm waiting on the bluey.

I doubt as if anyone "knows". I would harbor a guess that they'll do it when the NBA playoffs start, but I could well be wrong on that.

well the tests keep going higher and higher on the building.. but who knows when it will actually LIGHT UP!.. I would think they would think they would have a dedication before fulling illuminating it.

Pete

Other than the very top, their last round of testing only went up to about the 28th floor.

They still have to test every single floor and they haven't even started that process for almost half of them.

I'm beginning to think that the entire system won't be operational for several more months, but perhaps they'll light the crown for the playoffs.

Remember that last year Devon flew big Thunder banners and while this has been approved for many downtown buildings this year, Devon is not one of them. That leads me to believe they will do something with the LED lights instead.

Noticed on News9 this morning their "Sandridge SkyCam Network" had a nice shot of Devon close up and the LED's (those functioning) were lit, went from blue to red and were brightest I've seen yet!

Pete
04-13-2012, 01:20 PM
I understand the LED lights in the crown will be even brighter than the rest of the building and it was my impression there would be more of them in those areas as well.

Was down there today. There is still a lot of landscaping work to be done as well as some water features. I've heard Sheridan is supposed to be open in front of Devon in less than a week but the south entrances will not be open due to construction for some time to come.
