The juxtaposition of this photo is very telling of OKC's past and future.

I never noticed until now how the inverted triangles of the crown actually recess in at the bottom. I always thought the glass was flush all over.

I thought it was flush too, judging from the renderings. It still looks great, though.

Are those lights on in the Chase building or window shades?

I believe those are windows that have been tinted with film reflecting light back.

That's actually pretty creative.. Unfortunately I'm now going to have Red Solo Cup stuck in my head, lol... ;-)

Well, since there were no updates, I thought I'd pay homage to the fact that the white van is back on the webcam. It's been over a year and I know some are nostalgic about it.

It's so strange to think back to how "exciting" it was to see columns going up for the parking garage expansion. Given the scale of this project, it's amazing how quickly it all came together.

Nothing to really update. LOL

why do the city place tower and the first national center look so short when the first national center is actually taller than the chase if you include the antenna? The city place tower is 134 meters tall and devons tower is 258 meters but yet devon looks way more than twice as tall as city place.

It is because only 20% of City Place and FNC stick up out of the urban fabric of downtown while nearly 100% of Devon does.

The reason Devon looks so much taller is that in photos or just about any perspective you can't see all the way to the ground.

You aren't seeing the full buildings, you are only seeing the top 2/3rds or so.

You're forgetting the earth isn't flat, there are decent elevation changes downtown depending on the block too.

Most of the northern half of downtown slopes downhill towards the south.

Chase (Cotter, whatever) is also much closer to the camera in all of those photos. Vanishing perspective is tricking your eye.

Wasn't able to get a pic (and can't see it from my vantage point), but it looked as though the utility crane was extended and in use while I was driving home from work. Anybody else catch that? Or was something else going on?

i totally agree. i'm always comparing heights and i've seen the shot on the old I-40 on the wide side shot right by the chesapeake energy arena where you get a true height side by side and chase is just a touch taller. my info that i researched was skyscrapers on wikipedia and it gave FNC's height without the antenna at 446 ft, and with antenna at 496 ft, and i'm telling you that is the most accurate info i've seen with actually comparing it and being out there and seeing it over and over

It does sorta look like that... hah. I was actually about to take a pic of kristen when I thought I spotted Will and wasn't working with much time to frame up my pic of him snapping a pic. He was in and out and then gone.

I was in the middle of creating a new set on Flickr....then passed out. Just woke up at 3am to get ready for work.... thanks for linking the pics Pete. I'll share the rest when I can.

Yep that's me... I lost my good pair of sunglasses... They kept falling off my head when I was doing those first vertical shots. Hooked them on a jacket pocket. I literally walked everywhere. Up on parking garages, up elevators on both garages... didn't notice they fell off until I was leaving. Oh well.
