Personally, I think Devon makes Chase look better. Chase is no longer the tallest or signature tower anymore, but it's ugliness and stout 70's Industrial-Style is a nice change from the glamor that is devon, the modern that is OK Tower and the Glass buildings, and the Art Deco that is FNC and City place, and the brutalist that is SandRidge/KerrMcGee.

in fact, I think it is great for OKC to have prominent skyscrapers now from every school of architecture; though we don't really have a true post-modern tower YET unless devon is considered post-modern. ...

Good Analysis Hot Rod, however I personally would consider the Chase tower truly international style in the Miesian school. I've never really liked those horrid little arches at the top of the building, but every city does need it own big black box. What would be nice is if the facade were to be replaced (minus the white arches) with a truly elegant floor to ceiling dark tinted glass: kind of like the Seagrams in NYC.

(Besides, that was the skyscraper of my childhood... please don't take it away.....)

Embeded video player doesn't seem to work anymore.

Yes, it does. Here's what to do:

1) In YouTube, click the Share button; a dialogue opens. In that dialog, an "Options ▼" link is present below the embed address box. Click that link. Then, a check box is present which reads, "Long link." Click that link. Then, in the embed address box, a long link is present. Select that link and copy the link to your clipboard (Ctrl+C).

2) Back here in the forum as you are composing a message, click the video icon (looks like a film strip clip). A dialog will open into which you paste (Ctrl+V) the link you earlier copied. Then, press the OK button.

That's it, and you get this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYxPeD8-01Y

Don't use the YouTube icon in this forum when composing a message in advanced mode -- use the video icon, as I said, which is present in either basic or advanced mode.

Hope this helps.

To use the Youtube function, just click on the icon and paste between the two sets of brackets everything after the = sign, in this case xYxPeD8-01Y.

Yes, that is also possible, but the reason I said not to use it is that a smaller version of the video is produced, like this ...

xYxPeD8-01Y

Copying the video URL like it says did not work like it usually does. It says "Enter your video clip URL below." then "Example:..." Click "OK" and it just does a regular URL link.

Doug, I follow those steps every time. All it made when I clicked Post was a regular URL link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYxPeD8-01Y

The code it created when I click "OK" is this. [ video ] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYxPeD8-01Y [ /video ]
It just makes a regular URL link now. I've posted everything here without a problem until now.

I'm far from computer illiterate. I swear I'm doing it the same way it usually works, and all it creates is an URL link rather than an embedded video when I click Post. And no, I'm not using some junk like Internet Explorer. It's Firefox.

EDIT: Jeez, no wonder. Notice the "https" in there? That's what screwing it up. When I post videos, It's easier to right click the video in the editor rather than go to each video, have it start playing just so I can click through and to the "long URL" method. I notice now that those links in the YouTube editor have "https" in the URL but other than that it's the same. That's an easy thing to miss.

The other possibility that comes to mind would be Moshe Tal's fuel additive processing plant north of the mill. I don't know exactly what cotton seed oil smells like, but those are pretty much the two possibilities. Btw, his property would be a good place for a garage but he has been notorious for being greedy from the days of his imminent domain dispute with the city about the Bricktown theater.

I have never been able to figure out what the awful smell is downtown and around Bricktown some nights... I hope it goes away soon.

I've noticed it and commented to others for years (at least 10). Sometimes it smells like a moldy yeast/rotten biscuit smell. I go to work DT at 5 AM and it's at it's worst then. It's never there by noon.

Is the cotton mill the cluster of white-ish looking buildings (UGLY) that are seen in the picture on page 357 to the left of the tower, south of the old Crosstown? Those need to be torn down...they look terrible while driving on the new I-40.

I believe the city is wanting much higher density than a gas station and some residential.

There is a salvage yard on the other side of the highway, which would would make anything over maybe four stories on the southern part of property pretty undesirable. That's why I said a gas station but power to them.

But you would think if it is in the plans, it would have already been done, given that buying a large piece of land and demolishing it is one of the easiest things government can do compared to design, vetting, and building. But my bad!

Btw, I'm pretty sure that where a lot of the dust in Will's dust bowl Skydance video came from. That's several acres of dusty ground.
