Okay, so I have dropped Cox and went with Cricket. I do not watch much television, so I will opt to reset the tv to scan for the digital channels (free). I do not use the phone, but have a cell phone for contact. The Internet is with Cricket at a cost of 40 bux a month. It is faster than dialup and slighly less than the lowest cable speed.

Just wanting to know if there is a booster to strengthen the signal/connection of this USB modem?

Where is the nearest tower to the Sunnylane/44th location?

Cricket does not generally have dedicated towers/antennas. They lease space from other carriers and this arrangement changes very often, depending on who has extra capacity. They do have some towers, but in this area they mostly go the lease route.

All I read was some people saying they piggyback on Sprint and/or Verizon and some say Cricket have their own towers. Either way, I just want to know specifically the closest tower to the 44th and Sunnylane location that I'm connecting thru.

Also, I'm looking up on boosters, trying to figure out a way to actually maintain 3 or 4 bars. It is always 1 or 2 most of the time. Very rare I see it at 3 bars for a few seconds. One place I came across is Cricket A600 : 3Gstore.com, Mobile Broadband Made Easy. CradlePoint Routers, MiFi, Antennas, Amplifiers and Verizon & Sprint EVDO Modems. I'm not sure if the number of bars affect the speed or not, but I would just like to maintain at least 3 bars. Overall, I'm happy with this service. It would be nice if it doesn't disconnect once daily. There is an option to make it "always on" but when I click on that option, I couldn't connect at all.

Surely, there are other Cricket Broadband users on here and tech guys knowledgable enough on these things.

I am on the Cricket broadband card right now and have been using it for probably a year.

I really like it. Works pretty good and you can't beat the price ($40/month) and no contract.

The biggest down side is the limited coverage. I use it in OKC and surrounding areas, but when I get outside OKC it goes dead. I also use it in Austin with no problems.

That said, I am looking to drop it for Sprint's MyFi (sp) hotspot card.

Cricket seem to be the only wireless carrier to actually offer true 5 Gigs bandwidth monthly and if anyone exceed that limit, they won't cut you off, instead they will just slow down the speed somewhat.

They are testing the market for a 10 Gigs bandwidth for 60 bux. If they like how it goes, that option may expand to everyone.

Brian, I don't have the card, but I'm using the USB modem. What I find helpful is to use the Y cable that uses 2 USB slots to transmit data faster.
