Does anyone remember? Back in the 50's in the summer we used to play a baseball game "Indian Baseball". I did not name it, don't know who did or when they did it. We would go to the nearest Elementary School since they usually had several ball diamonds.
Only needed 4 players. Each side of course gets 3 outs. Defensive setup was the infielder would position himself where a shortstop plays (on diamond 1). A ground ball past the shortstop or if he did not field it cleanly was a single. The outfielder was positioned on diamond number two. If the outfielder did not catch a ground ball it was a double. A triple would be a fly ball over the outfielders head. A homerun was over the fence of diamond 2.
The playing surface was exactly half the size of a regular baseball diamond. If the batter was right handed then a fair ball would be from the 3rd base line and a straight line from home plate thru 2nd base thru center field. A ball hit to the right side of the line was an out. A foul ball left of 3rd base was an out. On offense you pitched to your team mate and vice versa. Pitched batting practice speed. We played 9 inning games.
Was a great game to improve your defense and hitting.
