If you are a resident of OKC you can take them to the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

City of Oklahoma City | Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility (http://www.okc.gov/services/hh_waste/index.html)

They will also occasionally set up at the fairgrounds on a Saturday afternoon for drop-off.

No kidding? I didn't know you could take them to the Hazardous Waste facility, I usually only take paint and other cleaners there, but now I use all green cleaners and such so no need. Thanks!

Here's another way. If you're lucky, you might even get some money for it. Shipping is prepaid too.

I took on old monitor to the city's hazardous waste place last weekend and they told me they don't take tv's just put it in with big junk. (Obviously, it was an old monitor if the guy thought it was a tv)

Well not many people think to look if it is a tv.
I always make sure I am in a good mood way before I have to deal with city or county employees.
Its like dealing with a person who has good hearing yet unable to understand what is needed, they're not known to be abstract thinkers or out of box thinkers.

Excellent point.

That's what happens when government agencies don't have competition. All us taxpayers foot the bill for the sucky services, so there's no profit motive. Also, since possible privatized agencies are rare or monopolistically stamped out, there is no incentive for the taxpayer funded agencies to improve service as that's the only choice.

Dell and Goodwill Industries have teamed up to offer electronics recycling and they recently expanded this to include the Oklahoma City area.

Last ditch efforts, there are companies that recycle locally, but they charge you to pick it up. We've used Vantage Point (off Meridian) before for our corporate bulk pickups. A little googling will find you some more options.

Donations are always better than recycling though. It keeps the device in use and unless it just won't work anymore, someone can use it. Churches all over the metro fix them up and give them out.

I saw a lady recyling her old tower and monitor at Office Depot just yesterday. The store paid for shipping and she just had to pay for the box that they put it in. I have also seen people bring in their old stuff to recycle at Best Buy. But, I am not sure if they charge anything to take it off your hands.
