Television pitchman and avid outdoorsman Paul Newsom has died this morning after a battle with cancer. You may remember Paul from his on-camera work with car dealers Automax and Jim Glover, or perhaps as his role in the 80's as the OG&E spokesman. He also had a long-running hunting and fishing show.

Services will be held Monday in Tulsa.

I'm very, very sorry to hear this....but, I knew it was coming. A mutual friend let me know that it was probably going to happen sometime this week. I'd known Paul since we drafted him to do the Tener's commercials eons ago.

He really was a nice man. I've known Max Fairchild of AutoMax for a long time and Paul would often be at his parties until he got sick awhile back.

He was a real man's man and the women often saw him as the ideal rugged man. Great sense of humor. Too bad he's gone.

Beyond looks, he had a voice. It wouldn't melt buttah, but it could sure work wonders on nancy, susie, janie, etc., etc.
