The Change A Child's Forever campaign, in partnership with the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives and the Children and Families Services Division of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, is hosting acommunity gathering to discuss the needs of the Foster Care program and opportunities for community involvement. The keynote speaker will be Randy Martin, founder and CEO of Covenant Community Services Inc., who has more than 20 years experience in social services and has served as Director of a Royal Family Kids Camp in California.

The Change A Child's Forever Community Gathering will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., June 18 at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E. Memorial Rd., Edmond. The meeting is open to the public and will include a free meal and free child care for those who make a reservation. Reservations can be made at Faithlinks - Featured Events (http://www.faithlinksok.org/FeaturedEvents.htm).

In the last 11 months, there have been 1,994 confirmed cases of child abuse or neglect in Oklahoma County and 1,398 children removed from their homes.
Currently, Oklahoma County has 2,136 children in foster care with only 779
families offering foster care and/or kinship homes for these children.

As long as children have a need for care apart from their parents while their
parents regain their sense of responsibility for their children, there will be a
need for loving homes for children. Local faith and community groups can
provide support to enhance, enrich and encourage children in foster care.

Sponsors of this event are Anna's House Foundation, Circle of Care, Foster Care Association of Oklahoma, and One Church One Child. For more infor-mation visit Faithlinks - Home (http://www.faithlinksok.org/), e-mail: info@... or 405-522-0606.
