Okay, so with the thought in my mind to drive all the way to Tulsa to see the new Transformer movie on the IMAX screen, I did a little bit of digging and found a couple of things.

Maybe the diehards here can shed some light on this subject, and if it is true, then awesome.

First I went to google and typed in Oklahoma City IMAX, then found this.

Big Movie Zone -- Dickinson Theatres Oklahoma City IMAX® Theatre (http://www.bigmoviezone.com/txshows/theaters/index.html?uniq=988)

It was one of the first topics to come up. I was thinking "HOLY CRAP!" However, I can't find no info about the theatre in question. So I did another look, and found this.

Oklahoma City slated for its first IMAX screen | Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City) | Find Articles at BNET (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4182/is_20071227/ai_n21188239/)

This news article says that the Quail area is getting a new theatre by QSM, and will be host to the cities first IMAX screen for feature films. They said ground break begins in the spring of 2008 (going off the time the article was posted,) and was going to be completed in spring of 2009.

So question is, does this place exist? Did a groundbreak even happen?

If I don't have to drive to Tulsa, that would be awesome.

Mega, the second one (Quail Springs area) is the area directly north of Quail Springs Mall. It is a 252 acre development called Tuscana that will extend from 150th to QSM and May almost to Penn. It is what is called Lifestyle Center and will include retail, commercial, residential, etc. For now, a lot of the retailers have put any sort of expansion talk on hold and that is holding up the retail side of it.

Here is the link to the website: RCL Development (http://www.rcldevelopment.com/slideshow.php?property=quail_springs)

Yeah, I am more concerned about the theatre though. I would like to see someplace around the metro have its own IMAX screen for feature films.

So is that still happening, or on hold as well?

On hold indefinitely due to economy

Sorry, I didn't clarify. The IMAX theatre was part of the Tuscana development and that is why it is not yet built. Have you tried the new Warren Theatre yet?

Yeah, I have advance tickets for it to Warren, but am returning them and taking a 1 1/2 hour drive to Tulsa (grr,) to see it on IMAX, as some scenes in the new TF movie are filmed with IMAX cameras, and has additional footage not scene in regular theatres that involve more robot to robot fighting.

Sucks I have to support Tulsa on that, instead of giving money to the city I love to help it grow, but I guess maybe one day we'll wisen up and get an IMAX of our own sometime.

But the economy isn't bad in Oklahoma City.

true, but lenders go off how the national economy is.....OKC is not NYC, so they aren't going to make an exception to the rule
