Joel,

Cool Edit -- how does it compare to Avid?

Cool Edit (now Adobe Audition after Adobe bought out Syntrilium) is strictly for audio editing, mixing, etc. Another program I have messed around with Sonic Foundry's Vegas does also do video editing along with audio.
I can't say I have ever used Avid. I have never done any TV stuff besides some audio for TV spots. Besides that, it's all been radio.

Sorry, I'm just not very creative. I never changed from the default HP desktop....probably because I just cleared my hard drive awhile back and started from scratch, so I've been a little lazy about changing it! By the way, I know my desk top is cluttered....even moreso than Masterwolf's! lol! At last Masterwolf has some file folders up there to organize some of his files.

hm..

For some reason, I seem to remember one of my broadcasting profs praising the program. I never did anything but video.. Only did audio just to go with the video :D

I recall spending bunches of money on hardware to go with Avid, only to be plagued with compatability problems and things not talking to eachother the way they should have.

Then I lost interest in the hobby. All of my old toys are in a box in a closet..

I guess someone likes Ashton Kutcher...

To those who have PMed me: I cannot PM back, it's this darned Firefox program. Sorry. I will just tell you how to do it here, w/o specifying who all PMed me.

Go to your desktop. Click on print screen, on the right corner of your keyboard. Just tap it, that's all. Then open up paint, and click ctrl + v, like your in Word. Then, save it as a Jpeg, and load it onto a photo hosting service. Easy as that!

I keep getting error messages ... I've made the desktop smaller so it will upload but it still won't co-operate. I was able to upload a lot of photos on the photo page but I can't add pics to the post, do I need to add HTML ? I can't add the smileys to the right or manipulate my signature, it's frustrating. Could it be my pop up blocker *I have disabled it but somethings not working for me.

What exactly is the error message that you are getting?

Okay, I have uploaded my desktop print screen to the right size, it's in my attachment file on my Control Panel, I copied the url - I clicked the Picture Icon above to insert photo, the photo shows but when I preview it, it just gives the url. When I put it just shows the url but no photo - what's up????

I can't manipulate my signature either, do you think it has to do with pop-ups blocker ( which I have tried disabling?). I've only been able to add an avatar so far.

Help please - I must be missing something!

"Gheradelli Square in San Francisco. It is a view I shot when I was there last"

Ghiradelli Square, several years ago...

I'd just finished eating lunch at an Inidan restaurant above Ghiradelli Square. It was a beautifull San Francisco afternoon. As I walked outside the restaurant I heard a captivating sound, like nothing I'd heard before. Looking down into the Square I saw a musician performing for the shoppers. It was the "Hurdy Gurdy" man (no, really). The guy was playing an honest-to-goodness Hurdy Gurdy. It had a very interesting sound, perhaps akin to a sitar (in spirit, if not in sound). The instruments pitch can be changed on the fly by varying the speed at which it's crank is turned. I stayed and listened to him for an hour or so, until he'd finished. I spoke with him a bit: his name was Ethan James, and he had an interesting resume: I think he'd done some session work with, or produced, Jane's Addiction, and had been involved in the music industry for many years. He'd decided to devote himself to the Hurdy Gurdy and other such instruments. I bought one of the CD's he'd set out next to him but, sadly, the CD didn't do justice to the live performance on that beautifull San Francisco Saturday afternoon...

I'll know that Bricktown has achieved another plane of existence when, while walking along the canal, I hear the music of a Hurdy Gurdy man performing for the Bricktown shoppers... Hell, I'd settle for shakuhachi even.

Well, a 39K limit isn't much to work with for a screenie, so I uploaded to my webhost:

Well hell, I would have posted, but am prohibited from doing so due to low message count. Seems odd that a Premium member should be prohibited from posting links...

Mods, isn't this worth a re-think?

Karrie, why don't you just upload it to a photo hosting service?

Yeah, it does the same thing for me as well. It shows up for the preview but not after you post it. Just shows a link. I dont know if this is how it is supposed to work, but I will look into it or ask Todd about it. But , until then, Sooner came up with a better idea, just use a photohosting service and do it that way instead of the attachment.

I would check out www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com). They are free and they give you about 25mb of free space for your images as well as online tutorials. There are quite a few out there , but this is the only one I can think of right now.

Hey Karrie, post it in our Photo Gallery and I'll email you the jpg URL so you can post it. The problem is the link you are trying to post isn't in a picture format. Posting it in the photo gallery will give it a jpg URL.

If you can't post it to the photogallery, send me a PM, and I'll have you email me the pic to my personal email account.

Also, concerning the signature, I'll look into it.

HFK, I'll have Todd change the setting so Premium members can post links regardless of the post count. We had to start requiring a minimum post count to post links to prevent spammers, but this shouldn't apply to Premium Members. We'll change the feature. Thanks for letting us know.

Also, if you want to post a pic, a good way of doing so is probably posting it to the photo gallery and then grabbing the URL jpg link from the photo. Once you post it there, I can PM you the link so you can post it in a thread.
