2009 Sunday Twilight Concerts announced

The Arts Council of Oklahoma City announced its 2009 Sunday Twilight Concert Series line-up today.

Starting June 7 and running though Aug. 30, music-lovers and Arts Council supporters can enjoy free evening concerts presented by Target and held at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City.

"We’re excited about this musical line-up because there’s something for everyone to enjoy," said Rachel Findley, Sunday Twilight Concert Series director for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City. "These concerts will showcase amazing talents in so many different genres ranging from rock and pop to funk and jazz."

The line-up, which is subject to change, is as follows:

June 7 – Built for Speed – Rock

*June 14 – Edgar Cruz – Classical Guitar

June 21 – Michael Fracasso – Americana/Folk/Acoustic

June 28 – Stephen Speaks – Acoustic Pop/Rock

July 12 – Kerry Wayne – Old School/Jazz

*July 19 – Marcy Priest – Indie/Rock

July 26 – Good Company – Variety

Aug. 2 – Chris Hicks Jazz Band – Variety/Jazz

Aug. 9 – J. Echols – Jazz/Standards

Aug. 16 – Junebug Spade – Rock/Experimental/Psychedelic

*Aug. 23 – C-Plus! – Funk/Pop

Aug. 30 – Steve Poltz – Acoustic

New this year, June 14, July 19 and Aug. 23 are designated family nights where children can participate in art activities starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Target Kids Tent.

"The Arts Council is thrilled to add this new children’s element to our family-friendly Sunday concerts," said Peter Dolese, executive director of the Arts Council of Oklahoma City. "Target has been a great supporter of our events and active in our community."

The free concerts take place 7 – 8:30 p.m. on the south end of the Myriad Botanical Gardens. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, but may not have pets or glass containers.

The 29th year of the Sunday Twilight Concerts is presented by Target with additional support from the Oklahoma Arts Council, Allied Arts, the City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department, Myriad Botanical Gardens, and Magic 104.1 – KMGL.
