Yesterday I walked through the kitchen when my mom suddenly turned from the stove with a hot pan in her hands. I now have this huge burn mark above my elbow on my left arm. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of it? I mean them. There's two. And if they're permanent, does anyone know how to make it less visible?

Is it just red? Has it blistered? Did you need medical care? Are you fair skinned? Freckled? Do you get keloids?

It may go away by itself. However, my husband has freckles and where he has burned himself over the years you can see where the "scars" are. I tend to get scars but some people heal right up. Not enough information to tell from what you are saying.

It's just red. It barely hurts when I touch it. And it's just a little tight when I move my arms.

Is it worse than a bad sunburn?

You should seek medical attention to be on the safe side.

I'm not a doctor, so don't take this as medical advice, but from past experience, this will probably go away on its own. But as we get older, injuries like this don't go away as easily. There are some over-the-counter products that supposedly help prevent scarring, but I don't know how well they work or if you should be using them on a large area like a burn. A pharmacist might have some free advice for you.

I've...never really had a sunburn before.

But thanks, everyone. I appreciate your help =)
I think it'll go away. Maybe...

You should quit sneaking around the kitchen when your mom is working.

Maybe it wasn't accidental?

If you're olive skinned or darker, you'll probably have permanent dark marks once it heals. Let it heal, then use alpha hydroxy acid or retin-A along with something containing 4% hydroquinone to "bleach" it out. You'll need to see a doc for the hydroquinone though (over the counter 2% doesn't work.)

Alright. Thanks! My skin is kind of tan. It's in the middle. So Right now it looks horrible! I think it's beginning to scab or something.

Go to the doctor. If it is scabbing, you run the risk of infection which is your biggest problem. Although it sounds like it is healing.

I've worked around red hot metal for years and have the burns to prove it. The best I've found is aloe vera sap straight from the plant. The next best thing is a product containing high levels of aloe vera extract.
