Its a sad sad day. I hope the Oklahoman does a feature on his work. I mentioned in another thread when he retired in October that I still had one of his cartoons stuck to my refrigerator with a magnet......its probably been there for 20 years (different firg of course) and the paper yellowed years ago. Its still there today. I will deeply miss his humor, he brightened up a lot of mornings with his cartoons. Thanks for the memories and laughs Jim. RIP. All the best to his family and friends.

Sad day. I remember my third grade teacher explaining what editorial cartoons were, and using his panels as examples. Hated to see him retire, but he'd earned it years earlier. Condolences to his family.

I wish the DOK would hire a new editorial cartoonist. I know that's unlikely, given the economic reality of the newspaper business today, but I miss the local and state cartoons that Lange made his specialty.

BB37, I can't talk for The Oklahoman on this, but personally, yes, I miss having a local cartoonist too. Sadly, these jobs have been disappearing at papers across the country.

Today's 4/19 Sunday Oklahoman had a nice farewell to Jim Lange, along with a retrospective of some of his panels from the last 20 years or so. The one with David Walters ('What fire?') still brings a laugh.
