Westbound I-40 narrowed to one lane in Oklahoma City for bridge repairs
Published: April 7, 2009

Bridge repairs have closed parts of two stretches of I-40 through Oklahoma City through rush hour.

Westbound Interstate 40 has been narrowed to one lane between Interstate 235 and Classen Boulevard for emergency bridge repairs near Hudson Avenue, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

Crews doing routine maintenance this morning found a hole in the bridge deck in the center lane and a loose expansion joint in the left lane near Hudson Avenue.

Motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route such as Interstate 44 or Interstate 240.

The right lane of eastbound Interstate 40 at SE 15 and the entrance ramp from Sunnylane Road to I-40 will be closed through this afternoon's rush hour commute while crews make emergency bridge repairs. A two-feet-wide hole through the bridge was found today, an Oklahoma Department of Transportation spokeswoman said.

Two eastbound lanes will remain open.

I was wondering whether to post on this. I saw from the view via Sky 5's camera that the hole occurred in an area not bereft of patches relative to the rest of the immediate stretches' virtual integrity.

So who will ultimately be to blame if this thing collapses?

What other stretch of roadway merits a news release every time routine maintenance is done?

LOL!!

Most other roadways that receive the "routine maintenance" as you put it, do not cause there to be a hole that has a 20 foot drop off.

Not a hole, it's a new exit. A ramp might have been nice though.
