I looked into it and did some reading at TOTAL FTA FORUMS (http://www.totalfta.com/forums/). Bottom line; the learning curve was more than I had time for.
We now have two dishes here. One for Dishnet and one for Tan TV which carries my wifes Korean shows. (total bills come to about $100/mo)

Cool, I dont pay anything for TV I have an roof top antenna for locals and I catch free programming on Satellite that is in the clear. It is a lot to learn but once you do the benefits are rewarding.

I was using a Big Cband dish until last weeks wind finaly broke it. FTA only is a bit tricky to learn, get started. Luckily slaving off an existing big dish made my life easy. I even eventually added a 1M Ku dish with motor for FTA only feeds. Sadly I don't watch that much any more either. I think OETA HD is out there on a Sat if I recall, can't even get that with an antenna :(

Yes the was/is lots to watch. Of course like OTA, digital is it today. FTA and 4DTV. I liked my Big Dish programming, a-la-carte, only but the channels I wanted, bill wal like $13/mo for the dozen or so channels I wanted.

Lots of great sources out there, satforums.com I found most useful. 4Dtv programming via Callnps.com or BigDish.com
Lyngsat.com is great to see what is out there, and what is free!

Since my dish is down now, I have lots of new parts & recievers for sale, I'm not sure of the rules here so I won't post an ad, but I have 2 FTA, 1 4DTv 922, Norsat LNB, plus much more if anyones interested.

How much for it all? What brand of FTA receivers do you have?

PM Sent listing all stuff and prices. I didn't list the 8.5' (?) solid aluminum dish. I was just going to take it to a recycle place @ whatever aluminium is per # these days.

4DTV is great. I liked my Big Dish programming, a-la-carte, Pay for the channels you actually want to watch. Here are the two links for 4DTV service providers. Ebay always had a 4DTV converter box for sale as well.
