Oklahoma City Tenth Street Project (http://www.peaceparkfund.org/)

I noticed that this topic has not been discussed in any threads and is probably of interest to many of you.

The plan calls for a 'peace park' to stretch the entire north side length of NW 10th between Virginia and Ellison (basically Penn and Western) with a two lane path separated by elevation and vegitation (walking/jogging & bike) along the paths are several monuments, memorials, plazas, gardens, an amphitheatre and a retail node. (Check out the site... there are pently of renderings)

I saw the blueprints in the Acucollege window in the Plaza district.

It's a pretty exciting project and would be an excellent way to bookend the Classen-Ten-Penn neighborhood between 10th and the Plaza district... as well as help the Metro Park neighborhood directly south.

This is a terrific idea. It beautifies a neglected area and will help attract attention and investment. Plus, I hate that so many historic bungalows were destroyed in order to widen this street. It would make me feel much better if some good were done with the extra land.

Why is nobody responding to this??

This is very exciting. The renderings look great. I hope that it will actually get off the ground.

Surprisingly never heard of it. It sounds like a great idea. Anyone know more about it or when they might be kicking off groundbreaking? Obviously they missed their 2007 target. This would definitely help out the blighted area and bring new life.
