The Sac and Fox Nation purchased it in October of 2007. I drove by there last weekend and still have not see any progress. Not sure if they decided not to do it or what.

Actually... its not dead...

City of Stroud/Sac and Fox are working with a developer from Dallas on a retail development, coupled with a hotel and Indian casino.

The Sac and Fox bought the 18 acres and are making application to the BIA to put the land in trust, as this is required for a casino to be build on the property. The City of Stroud has an option to purchase the remaining 39 acres.

Geez, I wish we could have a few acres of land developed outside the core metropolitan areas of this state without a freaking casino going up.....

Not going to start a moral tirade about gambling, but these casinos are an abject eyesore

You are right - it would be nice if the tribes used their ability to build to put up something other than a casino. Maybe something more family friendly. I won't go on a tirade either - just seems like it has been overdone.

I know that the Sac and Fox Business Enterprise Board has recently completed the application for Trust Status that is required from the Bureau of Indian Affairs prior to pursuing gaming on the property. There are several interested national brand hoteliers who are interested in the site. This is certainly due to the potential compliment of the tribal casino.
As for the retail development, the developer has a preliminary design of 330,000 sq. ft. retail development. They are currently working to lease retail space with a variety of outlet mall retailers.

Do you have any proof or link to where we could read about this by chance?

Metro, this is insider information and is not publish on the internet. I am in constant contact with the Sac and Fox Business Enterprise Board and this application they have made may take some time to go thru.
