Some of us were talking about TV, mine too, in the KFOR thread. Here is one for those discussions.

Philips Support - 50PL9126D/37 (http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=50PL9126D/37&scy=US&slg=AEN&grp=TV_GR&cat=PROJECTION_TV_CA&sct=SU00309_SU)

Mine looks to be the earliest (first) model in this line.

Philips projection HDTV 50" DLP™ with Pixel Plus
Model Number: 50PL9126D/37

It looks like this TV is a 720p, but I'm not sure. Why does it show 1080i when I change channels? Could it be the cable box itself?

I can't find the full features list, maybe someone can get lucky to find that.

I did try to adjust picture settings based on drumsncode's instructions. The picture looks brighter and more viewable from side angle and higher (standing). I did notice when I got real close to the screen, it all looks fuzzy.

There is an Active Controls feature. Should I be using that? It has Off, Mininum (?), Medium, and Maxium (?).

Okay, found the old Walmart page. They did slash the price.

What should I do based on these info? Is the cable box screwing up my viewing experience?

The TV is only showing you the grade of input it is receiving and does not necessarily mean what it is outputting since it's maximum display level is 720p, not 1080 p or 1080i. So it's the cable box itself.

Do you have Cox?

Thunder

Yes, I am using Cox. I am using a HD capable box. I was using a HD DVR, but I have to manage the budget a bit more for a while. What should I do? I connect with HDMI.
