So the first family is getting a puppy.

This seems like a pretty dull subject, until you realize the actual impact it has. I'm pretty sure sure that a majority of Americans will know more about this dog, than the bills that are signed or vetoed by Barack Obama in 2009.

Their selection will probably develop a canine fad, which is why I'm hoping that they choose a rescue animal.

A mutt is appropriate for Barack Obama, but his daughters might argue that point. A puppy is mandatory though. The world will get to see it grow up. Pretty cool, really.

Any thoughts or speculation?

Peruvians crazy about their national dog, a bald and often toothless breed popular among Incan kings, offered on Monday to send a hypoallergenic puppy to the Obama family.

It's kinda cute. Toothless though? I can already hear the jokes.
