I have lived here for the better part of my life and until last night, never heard of or been to Valley Brook. Of course, it was getting dark and my car broke down right off of 59th and Foster. That's a whole other colorful story... What do you all know about it? I understand it's a tiny village with a bunch of strip clubs, but what else? I couldn't find much info about it. Any insight, stories or information? It really didn't seem like the best place to break down at night. Thanks...

the only reason why I think it exist is because of strip clubs.. Whats the true story behind this little town in the city

Police like to pull people over there too.

I wonder if there is an actually brook there.

Valley Brook is renowned for strip clubs and cops. They basically pull people over every chance they get. Its a little rathole.

Thats crazy to me that they have their own police. So basically, It's just a place to stay away from unless you are looking to go to a strip club?

And I believe OKC PD and FD provides services for it.

They have their own cop cruisers, I think.

From my Oklahoma Place-Names book:

VALLEY BROOK. In Oklahoma County, a separate municipailty incorporated May 21, 1956, and adjoining OKlahoma City on the southeast.

They do have their own cops. I'll tell you what I tell my clients. Nothing good happens in Valley Brook. :)

Cops do absolutely nothing but camp out and hope to bust some poor fool going 1mph over. It's nothing but a speed trap. Like you would think it was some place important for all the cops crawling around. Plus it only leads to Crossroads Mall.

OhhhMmmmmGeeee.

Thats my birthday! Well, not in 1956. Its about 36 years later. :P Anyways.

Yeah, me and my friends avoid that area every time we go to the east side. They are evil little cops. Must be bored outta their mind. They only patrol a block. Haha.

Make sure you take a cab if you plan to go to the strip clubs and drink. The cops make their bucks off of DUIs and not on speeding.

Years ago, I heard a story of a tail light being kicked in outside of Cover Girls by a VB cop so he could have cause to pull him over.

Not sure what show it was, I think it was "World's Wildest Police Chases," but there is video from a chase in Valley Brook!

Sooner or later OKC will make good on their threat to charge Valley Brook for fire services.(Valley Brook does not have a fire department OCFD responds as a courtesy.) When that time comes you can guarantee Valley Brook will fold like a cheap suitcase.

Actually, isn't it SE OKC?

you both are right.

Valley Brooke is in SE Oklahoma City, so it isn't in the Eastside (which is technically the inner NorthEast).

I wonder why there aren't MORE clubs there? We have other districts that cator to people and their lifestyles in the city - Eastside, Asia District, Capital Hill, Adventure District, Stockyard's City, 39th Street, PASEO, Uptown, MidTown, Meridian Corridor, Bricktown, Arts District, soon C2S, NW Business District, Penn Square, N. Western, others .... (all are great for Oklahoma City and add to it's URBAN feel and offerings) - yet we're missing an 'anything goes' district/city although VB is a good yet run down start/attempt.

I think they should go all out, and make it into a 'destination' of sorts for Sin City activity. Even add in a casino or two, all big cities need an ADULT ONLY entertainment district or two - why doesn't Valley Brooke capitalize on that (since they already have some economy of scale and a lower barrier to entry in that regard for the OKC Metro).

Then, maybe the cops wont have to be so zelous as the town would be making some tax dollars. It's a thought. ...

Maybe it can be LifeChurch's next franchise location.

A few years ago, I exited Crossroads the wrong direction ( I think Pole Rd. had
some construction going on) There were three people at the stop sign
turning onto 59th into Valley Brook with a Cop across the street. The
first guy stopped for a second, no more and he was tagged, but the officer
also got out of the car and flagged the next two who turned to wait behind
him to receive their ticket. I came to a dead stop behind the stop sign and
counted to 10 before I went and I got a ticket for running a stop sign.

The fine for that in OKC at the time was 26.00. In Valley Brook it was 204.00

When I showed up for court to plead innocent and ask for a court date,
I was told by the judge that I would have to post the entire amount
prior to a court date and between him me and the fence post, he advised
against it, because I might commit another violation on my way to court.

Ordinarily, this would have seemed incredible except for the fact that the judge
was the same person who gave me the ticket......

I did what most folks do.....paid the ticket and got out of there and never
came back....

Back in the late 80's a former irate officer, his first name was Boyd as I remember, went to state court with a person appealing a VB ticket and he testified that VB had mis calibrated their speed guns intentionally. The atty generals office investigated and after 6 months, ordered Valley Brook to refund every ticket
for the time those particular guns had been in use......

Stay out of Valley Brook folks.........

I stand corrected, I didn't realize Valley Brook was so far east.

I was thinking Valley Brook was like on SW 59th just right off 240 just past the airport. Isn't there Valley Brook or some other unincorporated town right there also with strip joints and other dilapidated properties? From some maps, it looks like Valley Brook goes this far west.

Thats bizzare. So they have their own courthouse too? I appreciate all the posts...

VB is SE 59th, ends right about I-35 on the west and, I think, Eastern, maybe Bryant, on the east side.

I don't know the N/S boundaries, but it's not a lot of dirt overall. I've had friends who've worked in the area in different capacities. Can't recall many positive comments.

HOT ROD, Who would want to invest in a "nice" strip club or casino in a town where people getting tickets for doing absolutely nothing, and is next door to Crossroads Mall and the landfill?

Maybe we could put that in Crossroads Mall once it finally closes down.

Oh. My. God. That's BRILLIANT! Throw Covergirl's, Fancy's, Valley of the Dolls, etc, ALL INSIDE THE MALL! You could just walk from place to place! Put in a casino in the old Montgomery Ward's space, leave Spencer's (fits with this scheme), a couple Priscilla's and a Christie's Toy Box.... hahahah you'd have the USA's first indoor adult mall! Now if THAT ain't tourism-attracting, i don't know what is!

Valley Brook is exactly one quarter section (160 acres); the northeast corner is 59th and Eastern, from which it extends half a mile west and south.

That would be awesome!
Add a hotel nearby, and truckers from across the nation will re-route their hauls.
This would be the dream of every fraternity boy in Norman.

I always enjoyed Valley of the Dolls. Very dirty girls...

Of course the beer was cheap. That helped. I still think we could relocate all of the strip clubs into crossroads. The we add a swanky by the hour hotel and Crossroads lives again.

Of course the name would have to change to something like XXXrossroads.

aided by the courtesy of all them way too fast left of center folks with the busted taillights :)No doubt thats true. I'm sure they simply just write more traffic tickets to cover the new and additional cost for fire protection.
