what do you think of the new Oklahoman? It is a bit more compact and is a lot more colorful. A few sections too.
It kinda reminds me of KC's paper.

It looks like McUSA Today, if that was possible!

The design has gotten better in the past few years, as has the content...but it's still limping along well behind most other big city papers. Let's hope this isn't the last of the changes we see.

Still, "Not The Worst Paper in America!" is as good a slogan as any.

I like it, it doesnt take up the whole table when you are reading while you eat

I don't care for it at all. Looks like copycat of USA Today which I suppose is the intent. Of course it has the regional news instead of national but is a digest type paper. JMO

I'm having a hard time with it. It seems like stuff is just wedged in there with no flow. It's difficult to read.

I haven't even seen it yet. I can't image how it would get worse though...

For those interested, there are a lot more comments about the new Oklahoman format in the other Oklahoman thread:

Okay. How?? Give me three reasons that don't include "it's conservative/right wing".

1. Local columnists. I don't expect Mike Royko or Bob Greene, but I would like to read some columnists who have some edge to their content. I've seen much better columnists in other places I've lived.
2. Comics. Not the most important thing in the world, I admit, but the Oke's comics section is aimed at blandness. How many other papers carry 'Buckles'? Where are 'Boondocks,' 'Get Fuzzy,' or 'Bizarro'?
3. I'll think of something.

the fact that all of their news from outside of Oklahoma comes from the AP
and people are shot on the southside there's a cokking recipe on the front page
they shrunk the destinations section the only reason i read the Sunday paper

and the newsroom is rather homogeneous even for Oklahoma

We have been giving it some time--hoping that it would be a better paper, but it isn't looking promising. Seems like there is too much "clutter" on the pages; I realize it is their attempt to be modern and copy USA Today, but it just comes off as cheesy, IMO.
