If you've seen the LED light testing, what's your impression ?

No. But I know what their capable of. We installed some in a bell tower this week. The exact same fixtures.

I saw them testing the lights tonight while I was driving down I35. Looked good. It was changing between Thunder blue and some type of green or yellow. It will be interesting to see it up close.

Yesterday, I was truely amazed as I drove across the Walker Street bridge (over Oklahoma River) and caught a glimpse to the right and there appeared the new scissor-tails being constructed on the predestrian brige over the new I-40 crosstown.

There were alternating colors of blue/red/green (scissor-tails) in a fashion which is complementary of what is going on in OKC eg., Myriad Botanical Gardens, Chesapeake Energy Arena...).

I'm not as camera savy as most; so I'm asking if anyone out there can post some pics of this amazing transformation of the OKC Sky, it is truely worth seeing. Get over to that area and see it for yourself through the naked eye.

Catch, thank you for actually taking pics and posting them. It's petty to complain because you have to click an image to view it. You are right about how the threads get cluttered with all the large images and the lag can get ridiculous and annoying because of it. Also, thank you for all the other pics as well, you're a lifesaver for those of us who are too busy to drive around town to see all the progress that has been/being made.

No, it does not! It looks fantastic! I do admit that it only look good at night, though, but I think the night appearance is more important than day.

Does anyone know if the new design aim to block pigeons? Since its wide open, it is worrisome if pigeons start nesting up there and make a complete mess everywhere. Can someone do a real close shot, maybe a foot by foot size view?

Thunder, the way I understand it is that they have the upper structure rubber mount insulated, that way they can live wire 220 volts to the basic structure 10 feet above the bridge. If any pigeon tries to land and make a mess, it'll zap him and he'll leave............

If you can see the Chesapeake Arena from the bridge, it would make for a great cut away/transition during FOX/ESPN/ABC Thunder game coverage.
After the old crosstown is taken down, I suppose. At least a nice OKC CBD shot.

Hopefully with all of the great LED going in all over downtown, the folks in charge of each installation will get creative with the color combinations. Just because that stuff can color-shift through every color of the rainbow doesn't mean that it always SHOULD. All too often those things are left on the default full-spectrum setting.

An example of more selective use is the top of the Chesapeake Arena. I'm sure those LEDs are full-color, but they have it set on blue, because it fits the identity of both the sponsor and the team that plays inside. Other places, like this bridge, MBG, Devon and others can and should have seasonal themes, or pink for the Susan B. Komen run, or whatever. The Empire State Building does a great job with thematic lighting, changing it up regularly.

The full-color rainbow effect just screams "default position" to me, much like a VCR (remember those?) flashing "12:00." Not that I'm griping; it looks great, as do all of the other installations. I'm just hopeful that the creativity doesn't end with the design and build process.

I wonder how much they can do without it becoming too distracting to drivers.

I'm not sure that's true, as one-color LED lighting is much, much cheaper due not only to the fixtures but also the required controllers.

I've never seen anything but blue on the arena which is fine, but it may be because of limited capabilities.

Limiting to just one or two colors at a time for thematic purposes actually would make it less distracting, I would think.
