I am really disgusted. I had a feeling that this crap would happen. As soon as I thought "wow...now that we have a team we need a name". The name is so stupid! The logo is lame. Come on. THUNDER? Are you serious?

So... I was there. The colors are red-orange, Oklahoma flag blue, and yellow. And to be honest, once you see everything in person in the store it looks great.

I was listening to the presser on the radio and I liked the way Clay described the colors, not too red and not too orange against the state flag color.

Really....I'm embaressed. I'm in the army and stationed in New York and when I told some of my friends the possible names and that Thunder was leaked to possibly be it they laughed. Bison and Barons were my picks. I don't even like to think we should stereotype ourselves by ossosiating us with cowboys and stuff but I could've been pleased with Marshalls even. But Thunder? OMG.

I agree. It does look better on the merch than as a stand-alone. Nonetheless, in and of itself it just lacks "punch."

I thought it looked best presented on the black or dark blue shirt color. Definitely NOT the white.

Reach.

Nobody has said they won't be in their seats come opening night and up on their feet cheering, but in my opinion, Clay has too many "yes" men, and not enough people being completely honest. We don't have to pretend that we like it on here, so why should we? If you don't like the logo, you have a right to voice your distaste. That doesn't mean anyone is turning away from the team; that is merely being brutally honest.

I think the fact that just about everyone here, and on the NewsOK boards, has expressed a very like opinion about the logo, pretty much sums up the fact that it was not in the least what was expected.

As someone on those other boards said, they were thUNDERwhelmed.

Of course, that doesn't keep people from being excited about the team. It also doesn't keep people from wanting to support the team. It just means they didn't like what was presented them after so much anticipation.

By the looks of the merchandise store this afternoon, I'm sure they'll fare very well, regardless of what people think of the logo.

The logo could be better but I like everything else. Not a fan of orange but red/orange as an accent color to sky blue could be really sharp and will at least be unique. I've always like the name Thunder as well as anything else proposed.

I'm sure there will be multiple logos (this one being the most simple), a mascot, etc.

I'm very interested to see the uniforms.

It looks pretty much like any new or redesigned logo in the past 10-15 years in any league. Better than some, not as good as some others. In 10 years we may not even think twice about it or it will be "redone" at some point along the way.

Luke

I mentioned this in the other thread, but I'll say it here too...

Look at the logo and it looks like a bird head with the beak on the right.

If that's the case, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch (or maybe it would) to get a mascot out of it... a Thunderbird?

Am I just crazy?

I think the Ford Center will look really cool when we're all wearing the Blue jerseys ....

I have to admit, I'm trying to figure out what the orange and blue streaks through the triangle represent.

Anyone know?

I'm feeling soooo badly for the people who designed this logo, reading some of the comments on this board, newsok and Yahoo, I know they are feeling pretty horrible too.

I expect it from the haters in Seattle but I didn't expect it as much from Oklahomans... oh well, I'm hoping the dust will settle.

I'm not going to let it ruin my excitement. There's waaayyy more to a good team than colors and logos..

I loved the Hornets beyond all reason and they had Purple and Teal for their colors, a Blue Insect as their logo .. and a giant blue bug as a mascot, loved Hugo to death, go figure.

I really like the name Thunder. Thunder and lightening definitively reminds me of Oklahoma. I like the fact that "OKC" appears on the jerseys. You know, other than us folks here most people outside the state TODAY don't know that we call Oklahoma City OKC. But TOMORROW, that is going to be common-place. I like that a lot. I like the team colors too.

The logo... eh, not so much. It's not terrible, but it could be better. Hopefully they'll snaz it up when they have more time.

ya know karried, in my line of work i get up in front of hundreds and sometimes thousands of people and i bare my soul and put forth my artistry. if i don't put on a good show... i face very harsh criticism, so i make sure that i'm on point. i guarantee the posters on here have nothing on the jaded posters on "dallas dance music".
in fact, every so often a promoter or a friend of a promoter that is not ready to be up in front of people will play at the dance party or club event... and they get bagged on mercilessly. however, i feel no pain for them. they shouldn't be in the kitchen if they can't stand the heat.

Karried! Long time no see. At first, I wasn't taken back by the logo. But when I began to think about the colors and what they represent, I began to realize how much of an emphasis was put on Oklahoma symbolism. The sky blue background represents Oklahoma's big blue sky, the same color on the state flag of course. The orange and blue streaks symbolize Oklahoma's sunsets, something each Oklahoman holds near and dear to our heart, and something Oklahoma is secretly known for.

Go Oklahoma City Thunder!!!!

For those who don't like our team name, I have two words... Houston Texans.

Great team, wonderful and skilled GM, promising future - these are the things that come to mind when I think of this team.

I will be ready to yell to the fullest extent of my own capabilities on game night. I am ecstatic that we have our own team. But that logo is too simple. Simple is fine, but it should look like more than a few weeks was put into it.

From what I've read, Thunder was decided back in July. If that is the case, there is no excuse for this thing. It is far too plain, and while I can enjoy some symbolism, I don't want to feel like a walking encyclopedia who has to explain said symbolism to the vast numbers of out-of-state people who will not understand any of it.

I don't hate the colors as much as I did before, but this logo is absolutely abysmal. I'm sorry, but that is just my opinion, and apparently I am in the majority on this sentiment.

I will follow this team as fervently as I do my beloved Sooners, but this was a horrible letdown for what should have been the best day in the history of this city.

The only thing that bothers me about the logo is that the font for "Thunder" is a bit plain. The rest if fine and just as good as any other logo in the NBA. I think it's just a case of everyone having their own ideal image in their mind and this doesn't match it.

I think I can agree on that. I still would like some tie-in to weather - considering we have a weather-related name, it doesn't seem too much to ask - but overall I can learn to like the design. That is, if they get rid of that bland lettering. It really does completely drag down the entire piece.
