The City of Oklahoma City announced today tennis magazine ADDvantage’s cover features Mayor Mick Cornett and the Earlywine Tennis Center.

The August 2008 issue highlights Cornett’s diet initiative along with the free Tennis Across America Clinic which Earlywine and the United States Professional Tennis Association hosted in May. The USPTA publishes the magazine.

The City renovated Earlywine Tennis Center, SW 119th and May Ave., in 2007 and the Oklahoma City Tennis Center, NW 36th and Portland, in 2006.

Cornett – who began playing tennis in the sixth grade at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center -- said he plays tennis two or three times a week to lose weight.

This does not have to do with the tennis magazine cover. However it does have to do with OKC publicity in a national magazine. (I didn't want to start a whole thread just for this comment - hope nobody minds.)

I was in my doctor's office this AM and was reading the Sept 2008 issue of National Geographic Adventure. There was an article on 50 up and coming places to live (from an outdoorsy, adventure-centric point of view). To my surprise, Oklahoma City was profiled. An even bigger surprise: It was the "Green" pick for the entire Central states region (mentioned trails, river, 300 days of sunshine, etc.) Great publicity in a very cool magazine!

Yep, no worries either stlokc, there are at least 2 threads on that topic already.
