I figured it was time to contribute to this message board, so here is an update to many of the projects underway in Bricktown, Deep Deuce, CBD, and Midtown.

Enjoy!

Great pics. I enjoyed the views of Maywood Park and the Hampton Inn from the parking garages. It puts things in a different perspective. I took some this weekend with my iPhone. I'll post them soon as well.

Awesome - thanks!

The Brownstones really look great; combining a traditional and more urban look. Really works IMO.

The Hill looks much more suburban and I'm still worried about that project.

And I didn't realize Candy Factory was under construction. That will breathe lots of life into Bricktown when complete.

I didn't realize the BOK Plaza plans had changed so much.

Here's the original rendering published in the Oklahoman when it was announced:

And here is the on-site rendering from the photos above:

^Yikes, they have eliminated many crucial elements, most notably the awnings and tables. Crap.

guys, if you haven't yet - please post your updates on the national sites (ssp and ssc). That way we keep the nation informed of OKC's progress.

I will, most likely SSP. Look for the construction in the Southwest/Central subforum and the skyline pics in the main US photo subforum.

I think the biggest change (loss) to the BOK plaza plans is the elimination of the big, bold archway entrance.

I also wish they would have kept the awnings.

excellent ptown - Thanks much!

we need to keep our OKC threads up and active on the national forums. It's just free advertising - and over time, changes people's opinions for the better since they can see the city for themselves - from a local's prospective.

Agreed. I'm glad the sculpture is staying though.

I wish the brick wasn't so dark for the condos that are across from Block 42....Block 42 is pretty dark itself, I wish things were a bit lighter..

Wonderful photos, ptownsnwbrdr! How did you manage to get to your high-up vantage point to take the Hampton Inn pics? Great shots!

I like it all, except for that bank at 6th and Walker. Is that downtown or at NW 122nd and Rockwell??? :fighting2

W O W ! !

How this got past me up until now is amazing! Fantastic pics...a whole new perspective. I like how you got the pics of Maywood with the adjoining UP trestle. I remember one night I left my friend in Bricktown, oh so long ago, and walked that trestle up to the main BNSF line. It was cool. All overgrown with ivy now. That will be a sight for a future homeowner.

FYI..last I heard (two days ago), the Maywood Lofts are looking at an April 2009 completion.

I noticed they took down a fence next to the Finley building, and it looked like they were cleaning up the parking lot. I'd heard there were plans for a bunch of lofts or townhouses on that site, but thought it was going to be a later project. Also, I noticed the building on the south side of 2nd Street across from the Maywood Lofts is being refurbished, but don't remember if anyone has talked about what's happening with it.

That's unbelievable, isn't it? What a waste of space.

That's going to be someone's private residence. There was an article awhile back with renderings. They're dropping something like 2 million on the renovation and will have a pool on the roof. Your first order of business when you move in to Maywood Park should be to find out who they are, make friends with them, and get yourself on that party list.

Ah, I remember that article. I thought it was somewhere in Deep Deuce. That is going to be a great house.

Is the big plot of land just east of the lofts and across the street from the townhomes gonna be the park? Right now it is just empty grass space...

There's another development going in there. I think it's the Maywood Hall that was up on Anthony McDermid or the Triangle website.

The infill is good but in a way that's too bad. It seems to me that would make the ideal space for a park. So what is Maywood "Park," Betts? Is it just that postage stamp of green where they have the sculpture?

Bah, then where is this park that they boast about? Hopefully it's more than just a small plot of land, only big enough to have your dog go to the bathroom on..

That's unbelievable, isn't it? What a waste of space.

Is there a committee of some kind like the Bricktown Urban Design Comm. that oversees Midtown? If not there should be so more debacles like this don't happen. OKC downtown development is good as a whole but then things like this bank, The Centennial, Residence Inn, etc. make me wonder. If you're going to build a bank at least have the drive-thru lanes away from the corner of a major downtown intersection. Even that should not be acceptable, it should have to include office or residential space above. The RCB Bank of Nichols Hills building on Broadway is a great example to follow for future downtown banks. BTW what bank is this? Midfirst is building a similar suburban bank just outside downtown Norman at Main & Flood which also annoys me to no end...

This is correct last I heard (from the developers). It is a later project depending on the success of Maywood Lofts. Also, the other building you are mentioning is a private residence in the works. It will be HUGE and they are adding a GREENHOUSE type room on the roof and perhaps a pool if I remember right. There is another thread on this, I'll see if I can dig it up, Lackmeyer did an article on it.
