Did anyone catch the article in yesterday's (this week's) edition of the City Sentinel? It talks about how the City Council at their July 1st meeting raised the question of considering alternate uses for the hotel/motel tax collections since they are bringing in more than estimated. It's a pretty long article and so far the City Sentinel doesn't have it online. I highly recommend this read. For those of you that have read it, what are your thoughts?

perhaps a reserve fund akin to the state's rainy day fund, as an offset for when the tax brings in less than anticipated, with difficult, though not impossible conditions to spend a portion of it for one-time type improvement each year

kevinpate, that's what Bowman and White were wanting to possibly do, put it in the city's depleting general fund.

I don't think you want to use one-time money on on-going expenses....I read that somewhere.
