I'm sure I'll do a blog article later on this, but for now, here's what a friend and I did today to commemorate the 1st day of the "Sonics" move to Oklahoma City ... we met at the Deep Deuce Grill ...

I brought my morning Oklahoman ...

And he brought a pair of his Sonics hats from a time gone by that he lived in Seattle ...

We talked, laughed, relaxed, and ate some brisket ... to go along with his glass of champagne and my whiskey sour on the rocks, and then we strolled the neighborhood, reflecting on things today and things gone by. It was a great great quiet celebration of many things, not the least of which was the 1st day of the "Sonics" in Oklahoma City!

Please share any of your own experiences ... I'm sure all would enjoy how you marked the day.

By the way, I think that metro's idea of a "welcome" party is a great idea. Let's do it!

I agree- let's make OKCTalk the sponsor (even if in name only) of the welcome party and market it! :)

Last night, I met a friend for nachos at the Belle Isle Brewery, where we high fived, drank a few beers while watching the presser, and discussed what division we'd LIKE to be in and how many games these bums are going to lose for the first couple of years. :D

Congratulations in order for OKC! As a former OK Cityan, I am always happy when my hometown scores positive announcements such as this!! However, I live in Dallas and all the news stations here are making fun of OKC saying who would want to live there? What a blow going from beautiful Seattle to the plains of Oklahoma? Yehaw!!! Typical classless Dallas. One sportscaster on WXAS Channel 5 stated who would want to live in OKC I sure would not. All the other anchors laughed in unison. Maybe a new thread should be started is okc inferior to Dallas or vise versa? Any thoughts?

The best part about it, is that they're OUR bums! :congrats:

And, from here on out, it's OKC '____'. No more "Ouuuur Buuuunch!" or "Hometown....."

I would like to congratulate Oklahoma City on the efforts and success in bringing the NBA to town.

Let me be the 1st to extend our new shuttle service to and from the basketball games at the Ford Center, departing from Prohibition Room at the Gold Dome. Park your car here and we will take you to the game.
