Elm Tree? I don't remember that at all.

The Elm Tree Bar was a very popular "Biker Bar" for several years, was washed away in the infamous Mothers Day Flood.

I get them mixed up in my memory, but somehow I was thinking that either the Top Hat or the Brown Derby was just west of May on 29th prior to '59. And wasn't the other of the two on Lincoln?

Louie's 29th street club was at 2929 S.W. 29th. Could you be thinking of that? Burger King sits in it place now. Was a Sonic between Louie's and Blue's. But I cant remember if Sonic was put in after Louies demise.

Going back again before urban re-newal!! Anyone remember Sam's Pawn Shop on broadway (sold switch blade knives under the counter) - Victoria and Hudson Hotel's -both had wooden floors etc. How about the old Black Hotel and the Hales Bldg. I even miss Harbour Longmire, the alley seperating both sections of Brown's dept store? Remember when the Biltmore Hotel was the nicest hotel in town and had the most expensive restaurant????? Gen/64 use to roam all those alley's down there when he was a kid, many many decades ago,LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was waiting on that one....You know, I don't ever remember that Clock to keep accurate time....My old Feeble mind is trying to kick in again ....Wasn't there a cleaners on the corner of 44th and Penn?.....I know there was one across the street from the school and a Baptist Church. Russell Browe...first Principal..... set that one up for the new school until the original building for Grant was finished.....

1960, I was in the 9th Grade, Kennedy was running for President and Roosevelt Jr. High was beginning to open. First $1,000,000.00 school built for OKC Public Schools. The Roosevelt was mainly beginners and we won EVERYTHING competitive that there was to win for a Jr. High School. We raised the money to pay for our Uniforms the first year...Had a great year....By the way was that when you were Born '78? Also, the name of the Drive-In next to Hoaglin's Auto Trim was The Dairy Mart...Thank you Red/Gen.....See ya later alligator..After while Crocodile....Don't get Tuff powder Puff.....(Getting Ready for Saturday....)

I was only 2 in 60, but my parents tell me JFK made a campain stop at Redding. Any one recall this?

He was in town to speak at the Democratic convention. I was on one end of a big banner in the audience that read "BUCK....Baptists United for Catholic Kennedy" Probably the only ones that were united on that issue were me and the rest of the Young Democrats from OBU. Hey 70, I had the samething happen when Truman stopped in Norman on is Whisle Stop Campaign in '48. Dad owned a drug store where Coache's is on Main next to the tracks. I still remember it vividly. Wow I never knew there was a golf course there....thanks M for posting that.

THIS IS FROM THE DAILY OKLAHOMAN ARCHIVES:
The Capitol Hill Golf Course was opened in 1931 south of Capitol Hill High School between Walker & Western. The clubhouse was at the corner of 44th & S. Walker. It was also known as Pard Wood's Capitol Hill GC. It closed in the early 50's.

There was also a Southwest Park Golf Course that opened in 1933 at SW 29 & Grand. It later was renamed Woodson Park Golf Course in 1944.
