Gotta love Google:

By the 1990s, the brand was facing competition from other brands and cheaper products from overseas. Production facilities in Canada and the United States closed and supply of finished products came from places like China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Lesotho, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico.

Wow, I never knew...

Are we sure about all those brands? Maker's Mark whiskey is made in Kentucky! Note that the title of the article is "Made in America", but the questions ask if it's made by an "American company".

Yeah, that's the issue. Some of these products are made in America, and were originally American-owned, but were purchased by companies outside the US, mostly in Europe. Nestlé and Unilever, for example, are European-based.

Gerber is owned by Fiskars, the scissors-makers based in Finland.

Carnation is owned by Switzerland's Nestlé.

Country Crock is owned Van DerBerg Foods in the UK.

Cattlemen's Barbecue Sauce is made by French's, which is owned by Reckitt Benckiser, also in the UK.

Axe is made by Unilever, which is Anglo-Dutch.
