Central Oklahoma Bike to Work Day 2008 is part of a national campaign to promote bicycling as a healthy and efficient transportation alternative. The League of American Bicyclists has recognized the month of May as National Bike Month since 1956 and National Bike to Work Day annually offers metropolitan areas the opportunity to call attention to the benefits of bicycling and to increase safety awareness among bicyclists and motorists.

I hope people embrace this! Really, riding your bike to work is not that bad! I also think businesses should get involved someone and give some sort of benefit to those who participate.

It is when you live 30 miles from work and must take high-speed, multi-lane roads.

I think this would be great unless you have to wear a suit to work. Harder for some women if they have makeup and hair to have in order. If they have shower facilities and appropriate places to dress, it would be terrific on a regular basis. I used to bike to school about 12 miles a day and it was great exercise but not realistic once I got a real job.

I agree. That was what stopped me from doing it. I think, however, that many of the large corporations to have this type of facility. It IS tough to sit at a desk hot and sticky all day...
