I saw this on a Crime / Police Incident report in a newspaper...


"Anonymous" ( I took out the name) was arrested on a complaint of uttering a forged instrument. "

What the heck is that?

We need to know, because we might be guilty of it, if we only knew what it was!

Forging a check or counterfeiting money or the like.

awwwww ... that makes sense.. I was thinking 'uttering' as in speech.

I had the visual of this woman saying a swear word.. to a cop! lol

He forged someone else's name on a check
Pretty common charge actually.

well... i think you're half right. forgery is the creation/modification of something with the intent to deceive.

let's say that 'forged something' is a check. uttering doesn't occur until that forged check is passed off as the real thing.
