I just wanted to let you guys know that I am an editor for Emporis. I am currently working on the Oklahoma City page. It has been a while since anyone has really updated the city's page. If any of you guys are interested in sharing your photos of the city I can get them posted on the Emporis website. If you decide you would like to have them posted just either send me an email or just reply to this thread and we can get something worked out. Just to let you know, they are very picky about what photos are posted. They only want quality photos (high resolution and clear).

For those of you who do not know about Emporis, they are the one of the largest building database website in the world. They collect information regarding buildings from all over the world and create a database for each major city. They also include photos and current events of the cities in their database. I am hoping to get the OKC page updated to where it looks really good. I have been adding photos for a few years now. This is a good way to show off our city and to show how far it has come.

This is the city’s page now. Just click the link.
Oklahoma City Buildings, Real Estate, Architecture, Skyscrapers and Construction Database (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/?id=oklahomacity-ok-usa)

Also for those of you who might not want your great photos flying all over the internet, don't worry. Emporis will resize your photos and watermark them therefore not making them available for anyone to steal.

Photos are not the only things that you guys can help with. Any information about the city, buildings, etc. will be welcomed. I will just need the sources of the information for them to accept.

As I said if any of you are interested just reply back or email me at:

Do they own the rights to the pictures once they publish them?

Some things I noticed:

-Anadarko Center should be Sandridge Center. Anadarko sold it months ago.
-Colcord Building should be Colcord hotel.
-SBC Building should be AT&T Building
-Hertz Financial Center is now the Caliber Center
-Osler Building and Bunte Candy Factory should be under renovation
-The Hampton Inn Bricktown seems to be missing (under construction)
-The OU Cancer center is a low-rise currently under construction
-I'm not sure if it should be vision or proposed, but the Shawnee tribe just announced an plan for an 18-story hotel/casino.
-First National Center and Dowell Place are being renovated (the renovations are ongoing, so I'm not sure if it counts)
-I'm not sure what qualifies as "vision", but the towers envisioned for Core to Shore might fall into that category

Not completely. When they publish your photos they are actually for sale if someone wants to buy the license for them. Of course Emporis will take their share and you will get a commision. I have uploaded probably 40 pictures over three years and have never had someone offer to buy them. I have looked before and Emporis prices are kind of high. More than anything they are there to show off the city. I believe that you have a final say in who (if anyone) wants to buy your picture. The terms and conditions do say that Emporis has the right to use the pictures for their business operations, but they will not be sold without your knowledge and will not be given away. You retain the copyrights to the photos and you can terminate your pictures at any time as long as a license has not been granted.

jbrown, thanks for the updated information on the buildings. I will try to get those updated over the weekend. As I said before, up until a month ago it had been a while since the page had been updated.

jbrown, you have got some great pictures. Do you have any of them in a higher resolution? I think they would be great for Emporis.

I like what you have done. A few suggestions. The gold dome should be added to the famous buildings. Also the Bruce Goff building out at MacArthur and oh way the hell out somewhere around 164th. The churches also aren't very well represented. 1st Christian comes to mind as well as 1st Presby. And Mount Saint Mary's probably should be in there somewhere.

I'm not sure if it would be appropriate, but the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory is certainly a unique building, and a very distinct landmark for OKC. If you are interested in a photo of it, please PM me with your email address, and I will gladly send you one!

Soonerfever, is there a way we can get building heights on in the database for OKC? I notice there are a NUMBER of 15 storey buildings yet no height - even the recently built Renaissance Hotel.

anyways, is there some way of getting that info and publishing it? It would make OKC look much better by having the buildings sized (and documented) properly.

Otherwise, nice work! CONTINUE THE RENAISSANCE!!

Thanks. I do have them all in higher resolution, I just don't like to post the full size ones. PM and let me know which ones you like and where to send them.

Hot Rod, yes we can get the heights listed on the buildings. The only problem is that we need to have accurate sources, such as the blueprints from the builders. I agree that we need to get the buildings updated and accurate. If you or anyone else have good information with sources please feel free to email me and I will get the information posted to OKC's page. Thanks

ok, thanks Soonerfever.

I wish I were in OKC because its difficult for me Soonerfever,

but everyone PLEASE check the OKC Emporis page and look for the buildings *especially those downtown, that are listed without heights (feet or metres, floors is an innacurate metric) - and please try to find how tall they are then Post to Soonerfever.

It would be so great to have more of our skyscrapers and buildings identified so we have a much more cohesive 'looking' city and of course that helps OKC out in the "lots-of-buildings, hey-I-never-knew-OKC-had-so-many" conversation circles.

Well, he said he needs blueprints or something official, which will be hard to come by.

I understand jbrown, but the request still stands.
