I've heard from a few people that Langston University is planning to sign on a radio station in Oklahoma City playing a mix of R&B, Jazz, & Blues with no Hip-Hop. I don't think there any stations available on the FM dial in OKC unless they're planning to broadcast on LPFM or a translator or purchase a station. I'm sure they'll be simulcast with KALU-89.3 out of Langston.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

It would be oh so welcome. Ever since KTNT The City 97.9 went off the air in 1999-2000, the OKC market's been starved for such a station. I've seen KRXO host the Bricktown blues fest, but I don't know if they consistently play the blues. Hope it happens!!!

That would be nice.

Yes it would be nice, since the KAEZ call letters are available maybe someone should look at reviving that station with those call letters and carry an Urban AC format with a mix of Jazz.

That would be great! I too have missed the old Jazz station that floater mentioned.

That would be great for OKC. I remember KAEZ from way back. Those were memories!

Just an fyi, we dont have a station like that in seattle either.

But we do have smooth jazz (commercial station) and KPLU (college based NPR/southern Jazz). We dont have an urban soul station like KAEZ.

It would be great for OKC if they got one.

Heck, I just wish we'd get a smooth jazz station back. I miss The City 97.9.

I hear ya, Patrick. It's tough to keep up with the acts if you can't hear what they're producing. They can always infuse it with some lighter R & B to expand the listener base. And they should promote it as a great station to listen to at work.

Anything to get smooth jazz back! I've been stressed out and having headaches ever since The City went out! KCSC 90.1, the Classical Station, works, but not as well! lol!

It would be great to have a blues station in the city.
