City of Oklahoma City plans public meeting regarding bond election
By OKCBusiness Staff - 11/5/2007

The City of Oklahoma City plans a community meeting Nov. 6 at 6 p.m to convey information regarding the Dec. 11 2007 General Obligation Bond Program.

The meeting will be held at City Hall, 200 N. Walker, on the third floor in the council chambers.

A similar meeting was held in August. The first public meeting regarding Oklahoma City’s General Obligation Fund exceeded expectations, said City Public Relations and Marketing Director Kristy Yager.

The City Council approved the $835 million General Obligation Fund in September.

The bulk of the money – more than half -- has been earmarked for road improvements. Other proposed allocations would be granted to public works, police, fire, parks and recreation, transit and economic development.

Bond propositions were identified based on the 2006 citizen survey feedback as well as council strategic priorities, city manager priorities, departmental priorities and impact on the operating budget.

With a 16-mill levy, property taxes will not increase, Yager said.

“We want the citizens to understand the bond issue and to tell their neighbor and help spread the word,” Yager said.
